Happy Saturday! Today’s MLB slate began earlier this afternoon in The Big Apple, but there is plenty of action left to get underway as of this writing. There are 13 games with a scheduled first pitch of 4:05 p.m. ET or later, giving bettors plenty of time to find a few looks to their liking.

MLB Player Props Today
- Jung Hoo Lee Over/Under 0.5 Strikeouts
- Cedric Mullins Over/Under 0.5 Stolen Bases

Jung Hoo Lee UNDER 0.5 Strikeouts (+125), DraftKings
Jung Hoo Lee struck out in his first plate appearance (PA) on Opening Day, but bettors shouldn’t expect to see him do that often. During Spring Training, Lee struck out only 4 times in 40 PA. Since 2019, Lee struck out in 7.6% of his PA or fewer each year in the KBO. Lee’s strikeout on Thursday was simply a result of him guessing incorrectly with 2 strikes in the 1st inning. In 4 PA, he only had 1 swing-and-a-miss, and it came against reliever Yuki Matsui in the 7th inning. On Friday, he had 5 trips to the plate, but struck out in none of them.
Dylan Cease has good swing-and-miss stuff overall, but he struck out only 22.9% of left-handed batters (LHB) he faced in 2023 compared to 31.8% of RHB. In 2022, he had a 26.7 K% against LHB compared to a 33.9 K% against RHB. Cease is still capable of getting a strikeout in this matchup, and the Padres have a few high-quality relief arms that have the potential to get Lee to go down on strikes as well.
Simply, this is a bet on Lee that has too much value, given the price. Last year, Masataka Yoshida struck out in only 10 of his first 29 games in the MLB, and Lee has equally good bat-to-ball skills, if not better. We will live with the results here.
Cedric Mullins OVER 0.5 Stolen Bases (+600), Caesars
In 2023, Cedric Mullins was the 22nd-most aggressive baserunner in the MLB in stolen base opportunities. Today, the Angels are starting Logan O’Hoppe behind the plate, who ranked dead last in pop time among 81 catchers with at least 5 attempts last season. Mullins saw his speed regress last summer, but part of that was related to an in-season lower-half injury. Even still, he ranked in the 66th percentile in sprint speed. This is a worthwhile risk here if looking for a small fun-money stab on Saturday.
Ketel Marte OVER 1.5 Total Bases (-135), bet365
Ketel Marte is one of the better overall hitters in Major League Baseball, but he’s at his best against LHP. In 2023, he finished with a .313 batting average, .879 OPS, and 138 wRC+ against southpaws. In only 199 such plate appearances, Marte had 20 extra-base hits. On Opening Day, Marte cashed us in this same spot against Kyle Freeland. Today, Marte gets to face Austin Gomber, who has always struggled to generate swings and misses against right-handed batters (RHB) – and struggled to a 5.15 FIP and 1.39 WHIP against them overall last season. At a minimum, Marte should be able to put the ball in play a few times today, which gives us a chance here. If we are fortunate, one or two of those balls in play will have quality exit velocity and find some outfield grass.
