Traditional MLB DFS formats aren’t the only way to profit from daily fantasy baseball. MLB PrizePicks is a great fantasy pick’em site where we can take today’s projections versus theirs and combine two or more baseball predictions for sizeable payouts.

In this space, we’ll explore a few PrizePicks plays for the upcoming MLB slate. This article isn’t the be-all, end-all of great plays or a recommendation for a full ticket; it’s simply a starting place for you to explore thinking about the game within the game. Maybe you want to scatter these plays across entries. Maybe there are only two or three you think are worth playing. Daily fantasy pick’em gives us the flexibility to make only the plays in which we think there is value rather than being forced to create a full lineup while competing against the best DFS players in the industry.

PrizePicks is daily fantasy baseball made simple and our Fantasy Pick’em tool makes the process even simpler.

All stats cited are since the start of the 2023 season unless otherwise noted.

MLB PrizePicks Predictions for Tuesday, April 23

Yordan Alvarez MORE Than 8.0 Fantasy Points

10-15 MPH winds blowing out at Wrigley are forecasted for tonight. Yordan Alvarez is a no-brainer for this soft projection. He faces a lefty, Jordan Wicks, but Wicks is a higher-contact guy, and Alvarez has a 13.4% barrel rate against LHP with a 57.7% hard-hit rate and, most importantly, a 30.3% fly-ball rate. Just get it up in the air and let the wind take over. 8.0 is too low.

Freddie Freeman MORE Than 8.0 Fantasy Points

Mookie Betts MORE Than 9.5 Fantasy Points

Patrick Corbin is garbage. He’s allowed a 9.2% barrel rate to go with only a 15.5% K rate and a 79.9% contact rate. Freddie Freeman has a .402 wOBA with a .234 ISO and an 11.5% barrel rate against LHP, while Mookie Betts has a .449 wOBA with a .344 ISO and a 14.3% barrel rate against LHP. Two more no-brainers.

We have Alvarez, Freeman, and Betts projected for double-digit fantasy points. And Betts is projected for 13, so don’t let the 9.5 scare you.

Michael Wacha LESS Than 17.5 Outs

Michael Wacha sucks, and the Blue Jays should slap him around this big ballpark quite a bit. He’s gone 6, 6, and 7 IP, respectively, in his last 3 starts, but 2 were against my terrible White Sox. We have him projected for 15.9 outs. Doesn’t sound like a huge edge, but our Fantasy Pick’em tool has this as the best play on the board right now behind Kevin Gausman MORE than 4.5 hits allowed.

Michael King MORE Than 6.5 Strikeouts (DEMON)

MORE than 5.0 strikeouts in Coors Field is hard. The pitches break weird, and it’s just harder to stay in games. But we have Michael King projected for 5.9. The DEMON boost might be enough to get some EV. If 6.5 is too much for your palate, the standard line is 5.5; just play that.

All projections referenced are accurate at the time of writing but subject to change.

It’s a bit later in the day, so PrizePicks projections are trying to catch up with the sportsbooks. Hunt for juicy DEMON boosts on Cubs, Astros, Padres, and Dodgers hitting to sprinkle around on what should be a decent high-volume day.
