On Monday, the MLB slate features 15 games, with plenty of action staggered throughout the day – giving bettors plenty of options to choose from as they look to get involved in the action.

In the last ten days alone, we have cashed a +758 parlay, a +837 parlay, and a +711 parlay. We nearly cashed another +940 parlay on Friday, but the Colorado Rockies blew a seventh-inning lead as +320 underdogs, losing 2-1 to the Los Angeles Dodgers. On Friday, we went 2-1 again on plus-money plays, but lost the parlay because Joey Votto didn’t collect two total bases.

Not counting the All-Star Game, we have cashed eight tickets in this article, narrowly missed 25 winners, and had 20 tickets seemingly dead on arrival. Playing longshot parlays each day, these results are within the parameters of what is expected. As we highlight every day, these plays have been exceptionally profitable if played as individual tickets.

In this article, we never post a ticket with shorter than +700 odds, meaning that we only need to hit once each week to be profitable. Overall, these plays are 87-67-1 (57.5%) if played as straight wagers, many of which have been significant alt-lines, even as individual tickets.

Below, we break down our favorite longshot (+879) look for August 14, focusing on today’s matchup between the Baltimore Orioles and San Diego Padres!

MLB Parlay Piece for August 14, 2023

San Diego Padres Moneyline (-142)

On Sunday, the Baltimore Orioles won a hard-fought, extra-inning affair against the Seattle Mariners, but it did not come without a cost. Entering play on Monday, four different relievers in the Baltimore bullpen have thrown at least 28 pitches in the last three days. Five different relief pitchers have tossed at least 40 pitches in the last five days. In stark contrast, the San Diego Padres have one of the most well-rested bullpens in the league heading into the new week. On top of that, San Diego has a major travel advantage in this spot. There is a reason that the Padres are such heavy favorites on Monday.

Gunnar Henderson 2+ Total Bases (+115)

Yu Darvish has held opponent right-handed batters to a .229 batting average in 2023, but he has allowed a .261 opponent batting average across the platoon. Gunnar Henderson is the current odds-on favorite to win the American League Rookie of the Year award, and nearly all of his production has come against right-handed pitching. Following four consecutive hitless games, expect Henderson to find a way to make a positive impact this evening to begin the new week of action.

Juan Soto 2+ Total Bases (+145)

Grayson Rodriguez has struggled to a 6.60 FIP, 1.79 WHIP, and allowed a .288 opponent batting average to left-handed hitters during his rookie season. He has allowed 32 hits to left-handed batters this year, 15 of which have gone for extra bases. Juan Soto has 24 home runs this season, 19 of which have come against right-handed pitching. Twenty of Soto’s 25 doubles have also come against right-handed pitching. At +145, this is a tremendous value and absolutely worthy of inclusion in today’s longshot parlay.
