Thursday’s MLB action began earlier this afternoon with a matchup between the San Diego Padres and Pittsburgh Pirates. Still, nine games are left to get underway as of this writing, leaving plenty of chances for the betting community to get involved in the action today!

Since we began posting this article, we have had nine near misses, four cashed tickets, and six parlays that were seemingly dead on arrival – nothing unexpected when consistently betting parlays.

In this article, we never post a ticket with shorter than +700 odds, meaning that we only need to hit once each week to be profitable, which we have achieved to date. Overall, these plays are 33-23 (58.9%) if played as straight wagers, many of which have been significant alt-lines, even as individual tickets.

Below, we break down our favorite longshot (+924) look for June 29, focusing on today’s matchup between the Miami Marlins and Boston Red Sox!

MLB Parlay Piece for June 28, 2023

Taijuan Walker 4+ Strikeouts (-225)

Yesterday, the Chicago Cubs had four left-handed bats in the lineup against right-hander Aaron Nola, which is a good sign for Taijuan Walker on Thursday. On the season, Walker has a 22.0% strikeout rate against left-handed batters compared to a 19.6% strikeout rate against right-handed batters. The presence of Mike Tauchman, Ian Happ, Cody Bellinger, and Jared Young – all of which are strikeout targets – creates a safe floor for Walker in this department in tonight’s matchup. Expect Walker to get at least four strikeouts in this spot.

Kyle Hendricks 3+ Strikeouts (-295)

Since June 1, the Philadelphia Phillies rank 19th out of 30 teams in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching. This evening, they get a seemingly favorable matchup against the soft-tossing Kyle Hendricks, but this could be a deceptively good matchup for Hendricks as far as strikeouts are concerned. On Tuesday, the Phillies had six left-handed bats in the lineup. In 2023, Hendricks increased his changeup usage significantly against left-handed hitters, leading to better whiff rates and more overall success across the platoon. Trust him to hit his alt-over here.

Over 13.5 (+300)

Yesterday, the wind was blowing out to the outfield at Wrigley Field, which led to 13 runs being scored, despite the fact that Aaron Nola and Drew Smyly – two respectable starting pitchers – were on the bump. Today, the wind is once again blowing out to left field around 10 mph, which should lead to an extreme increase in home runs on fly balls in this contest. Kyle Hendricks is a fly ball pitcher who typically struggles in these situations. It would not be surprising to see this contest turn into a shootout once again – take the alt-over and enjoy the fireworks.
