Jeff McNeil to record a hit (-300)
In 2022, Kyle Hendricks had some of the starkest platoon splits of any hurler in Major League Baseball. Facing right-handed batters, Hendricks owns a 3.31 FIP, 1.04 WHIP, and a .226 opponent batting average. Against left-handed hitters, he posted a 6.28 FIP, 1.53 WHIP, and a .291 opponent batting. According to props.cash, Jeff McNeil has a hit in 31 of his 50 games played in 2023, but he has gone hitless in each of his last two contests. Expect him to bust out of his mini-slump this evening in an extremely favorable matchup.
Francisco Lindor to record a hit (-290)
Similar to his teammate in the middle of the infield, Francisco Lindor has proven himself capable of getting on base with the bat this year, collecting a hit in 33 of 5o games played. Also similar to his teammate, Lindor has not recorded a base hit in either of the first two games of this series against the Chicago Cubs. Lindor has not gone three consecutive games without collecting a base knock since the first week of the season. Trust him to find a way to break his cold streak tonight.
Carlos Carrasco 4+ Strikeouts (-265)
Carlos Carrasco has made four starts this year, only collecting four strikeouts or more in one of those outings. However, he has tallied three strikeouts on two separate occasions against relatively high-contact opponents, making it more likely than not that he can take advantage of a favorable matchup tonight against the Chicago Cubs, which rank 28th in strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching during the month of May.

Wrigley Field is one of the oldest ballparks in the MLB, and its construction allows wind to play a major role in home games for the Chicago Cubs on a daily basis. In January 2007, Chris Constancio documented in The Hardball Times that “more than 23% of fly balls result in home runs when the wind is blowing strongly toward the ivy-covered outfield walls, but only 13% of fly balls result in home runs when the wind is blowing in from the outfield.” Even though we have an underwhelming pitching matchup this evening, the weather factors should operate to keep this game close on Thursday.
Cubs +2.5 (-310)
If we get a relatively low-scoring affair, it makes it likely that neither team wins by a large margin. Kyle Hendricks is not a high-quality starting pitcher, but the New York Mets rank 21st in OPS and 18th in ISO against right-handed pitching during the month of May, making it unlikely that they will do too much damage against him in this spot.
