NBA Best Bets Today – Wednesday, November 29
- Los Angeles Lakers at Detroit Pistons (+7)
- Utah Jazz (+4.5) at Memphis Grizzlies
- Philadelphia 76ers at New Orleans Pelicans (+2)
Los Angeles Lakers at Detroit Pistons (+7)
Away favorites off of a 40-point or more loss are 11-1 ATS in the last 12 such occurrences meeting that criteria. Tonight seems to be a perfect spot to invest in the Lakers, facing a Pistons team that has lost 14 consecutive games and has only one win at home this year. However, the Lakers are only 3-6 on the road to begin the new campaign and rank 25th out of 30 teams in Net Rating on the road during November. Even excluding their most recent game against Philadelphia, LeBron James and company ranked 21st in Net Rating on the road across their last six games. Detroit has been bad this season, but they have rarely been run off of the floor. Do not be surprised if the Pistons manage to pull off an outright upset in this spot.
Utah Jazz (+4.5) at Memphis Grizzlies
The Jazz enter play 1-7 on the road this season and the Grizzlies are winless in eight games on their home floor, meaning that something has to give in this matchup. The Jazz have been demolished in each of their last two road contests, losing to the Trail Blazers by 16 points and to the Lakers by 32 points. However, they just beat the Grizzlies on the road on November 10 by six points! It’s easier to trust a bad team that is getting points than it is to trust a bad team favored in a spot they haven’t won yet this season. Memphis has been outscored by 10.8 points per 100 possessions across their last five home games, making them an undeserving favorite on Wednesday night.
Philadelphia 76ers at New Orleans Pelicans (+2)
New Orleans has won four of their last five home games, with their lone defeat in that stretch coming by one point against the Timberwolves. Following a three-game road trip out west, the Pelicans have a good bounce-back opportunity here against a Philadelphia team that has yet to have an impressive win on the road this year. The 76ers are 5-2 away from home, but those wins have come against the Raptors, Pistons, Hawks, Nets, and Thunder – none of which project to be a contender this June. New Orleans has good value at home here, either on the spread or the moneyline.
