What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
Notorious: I prefer small-field and single entry tournaments. The slate is big enough that we don’t have to get too cute with our builds. My focal points will be on the Blazers (shorthanded and have an elite matchup against the Jazz) and Bulls (shorthanded and have a nice matchup against the Sixers). I won’t be playing large-field tournaments, but I love Nikola Jokic in those contests. He has a nice matchup and is coming off one of his worst games of the season.
headChopper: I’m playing 1 lineup and entering it in single-entry and 3-max contests, and I’ll be focusing on smaller fields. That approach allows me to embrace some chalk while getting different at just one or two spots. I haven’t locked in who that will be yet, but if value opens up, it could be a player like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. If not much value emerges, I’m eyeing Anfernee Simons against a weak Utah defense.
Dean78904: I mostly focus on single-entry and smaller-field contests. I think we have a clear line as far as the “good” games and the less appealing games, so I’m leaning in on game stacks more than usual tonight. Specifically, if I had two big spends, they are more likely than usual to be from the same game. Some of my current favorite pairings are Nikola Jokic / Tyrese Haliburton, James Harden / Cade Cunningham, and Tyler Herro or Bam Adebayo / Trae Young.
Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
