NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, April 30

Who is your favorite player to spend up for in cash games?

Notorious: Jayson Tatum
headChopper: Jayson Tatum
tcsmith031: Jayson Tatum

Who is your favorite player to spend up for in large-field tournaments?

Notorious: Tyrese Maxey
headChopper: Nikola Jokic
tcsmith031: Nikola Jokic

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

Notorious: I prefer small-field tournaments. It’s a little tricky, but I’m going to try to fit in Jayson Tatum, Joel Embiid, Jalen Brunson, and Ayo Dosunmu. I essentially need some punts from the DEN/MIN game to play well, and this strategy could really pay dividends if Aaron Gordon and Bones Hyland are ruled out after lock.

headChopper: I prefer building 1 lineup on each site and mainly distributing it in small-field tournaments that have limited entries. We shall see if the early pOWN% holds true, and if so, then I will be fading some of the lower-ceiling, higher-owned players. Early numbers say Mike Conley and Bruce Brown are going to get a lot of ownership, and I will be fading them. I think I want to play Jayson Tatum on DK and Jaylen Brown on FD, as I think the Celtics will put up a big number in Philly.

tcsmith031: I’ll play single-entry tournaments. Mike Conley is understandably getting a lot of projected ownership as a $4,000-ish starter on a slate with limited cheap value, but taking an underweight approach with Conley is definitely viable in tournaments. Bones Hyland is slightly more expensive with a lower minutes projection, but his ceiling is considerably higher thanks to the high-usage role he plays off the bench. Hyland smashing isn’t a certainty even if Conley fails, but finding the extra salary for Hyland at much lower projected ownership is a logical approach in tournaments.

Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
