Core Plays LIVE: NBA DFS Picks for Sunday, April 7th

A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career, and Noto will mix it up in all different types of contests. On weekends, Taylor Smith will guide you through those NBA streets. So, who better to walk you through the madness of an NBA DFS slate? Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best NBA DFS picks, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.
Well, folks, we’ve made it. There is a grand total of 1 week left in the 2023-24 NBA regular season, which will officially conclude next Sunday. We’ve got quite a few jumbo-sized slates between now and then, including a hefty 9-game main slate tonight starting at 6 PM ET. You’d better get those NBA reps in while you can, as the league is fully off tomorrow to clear the way for the UConn-Purdue NCAA tournament finale.
As always, it’s fair to expect some wildness on the NBA news front. Some teams are still jockeying for playoff position, while others are jockeying for lottery balls. Today’s forecast calls for a 100% chance of jockeying.
Let’s see what’s cookin’ out there in the NBA streets today.

News Updates
Here’s where I’ll provide news updates.
Team Previews
New Orleans Pelicans (at PHO): The Pelicans and Suns are a couple of teams doing some jockeying, as Phoenix leads NOLA by a game in the standings entering Sunday’s clash. It’s a huge one, as the Suns are currently the last team above the play-in line. The Pelicans are 6-point dogs here on the road. Brandon Ingram remains out, while Zion Williamson, Naji Marshall, and Jose Alvarado are questionable. CJ McCollum and Trey Murphy would get nice boosts if Zion sits again, but that would also increase the blowout risk here. Williamson missing this game could also give Jonas Valanciunas a few more minutes, and minutes are everything to his DFS viability these days. Zion himself is viable in the $9,000 range if he suits up, as he’s played upwards of 40 minutes in competitive games recently.
Phoenix Suns (vs. NOP): The Suns are one of the healthiest teams in the league right now, with only Damion Lee set to miss tonight’s battle with the Pels. As a result, there isn’t a single Sun projecting as a positive RG Value in LineupHQ. I never mind firing darts at high-ceiling types like Kevin Durant or Devin Booker at what should be extremely low ownership, but nobody will be a priority here barring some unexpected injury news.
Oklahoma City Thunder (at CHA): The Thunder are sizable 9-point favorites in Charlotte tonight as they continue to play without the injured Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Jalen Williams and Gordon Hayward (revenge!) are both questionable. J-Dub (if he plays) and Josh Giddey look like the headliners here, as they’ll initiate the offense with SGA still sidelined. Cason Wallace will likely start, but he’s shown an extremely low floor even in a starting role of late. Lu Dort has enjoyed a nice 5% usage boost with SGA off the floor, so he makes for a reasonable sub-$5,000 value here. Chet Holmgren should find very little resistance in this one from a battered and undermanned Charlotte frontcourt, as well. If Williams sits, Isaiah Joe becomes a more alluring cheapie.
