NBA Player Props Today – Friday, October 27

Simmons Over/Under 12.5 Rebounds + Assists

Prior to opening night, we mentioned in this article that Ben Simmons had been moving much better during the preseason than he did at any point last year. Following a strong preseason, Simmons put together a quality performance in his first regular season contest – scoring four points, collecting 10 rebounds, and dishing out nine assists. Simmons was second on the Nets in rebound chances, behind only Nic Claxton. Simmons tied for the team lead in potential assists with Mikal Bridges, both of whom had more than double the number of potential assists compared to anyone else on the team. Simmons did all of this in only 23 minutes of action. Though his role is not completely carved out yet, it stands to reason that he will work himself into a role that inches closer to 30 minutes per night. Simmons has eclipsed this market number in each of his last four games played, dating back to the preseason, making it a worthwhile risk again on Friday night.

Brooks Over/Under 12.5 Points

On Wednesday, we mentioned that the points prop for Dillon Brooks was simply too low, given the significant financial investment that the Houston Rockets made in him this past off-season. Brooks did not disappoint in his Houston debut, scoring 14 points in only 26 minutes of action in a 30-point loss to the Orlando Magic. On Friday, he gets a more favorable matchup against a San Antonio Spurs team that was among the worst in the league defensively last year. In their season opener, the Spurs ranked 25th out of 30 teams in defensive efficiency, showing that even the arrival of Victor Wembanyama is unlikely to push them to the league average on that end of the floor. Assuming a competitive game script this evening, Brooks should see close to 10 shot attempts, which would give him an opportunity to hit the over on his points prop for his second consecutive game.

Jokic More/Less Than 13.0 Rebounds

Nikola Jokic had significant home-and-away splits last season on the glass, averaging 13.1 rebounds per game at home, compared to only 10.6 rebounds per game on the road. The Memphis Grizzlies do not project to be an elite rebounding team with Ja Morant and Steven Adams off of the floor, but this is still a tall number for Jokic, who had only 13 rebounds in an impressive season debut at home, facing the Los Angeles Lakers. It would not be surprising to see Jokic have his minutes slightly reduced on Friday, which would only further the likelihood that he has less than 13 rebounds in this spot.
