Thursday’s NBA slate features 2 games, beginning with the Thunder against the Pacers at 7:30 p.m. ET, followed by the Nuggets against the Warriors at 10:00 p.m. ET. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN.

Even with this evening being a small slate, there are still a number of notable names on the NBA injury report on Thursday. After playing 30 minutes in Oklahoma City’s season opener, Alex Caruso has been ruled out with a concussion. Luguentz Dort, Jalen Williams, and Tyrese Haliburton are a few other notable names who are either questionable or have long-term injury designations to begin the new campaign.

Below, you can find 3 of my favorite picks for Thursday, October 23rd!

Nikola Jokic UNDER 28.5 Points (-117, DraftKings)

Jokic averaged a career-high 29.6 points per game last season, but he did so on a hyper-efficient 41.7% from 3-point territory while playing 36.7 minutes per game. It wouldn’t be surprising to see his minutes come in a little bit lower early in the season as he plays himself into game shape. Of course, that would likely push his points per game closer to what we saw in prior years – around 25-26 points. Golden State is also a well-coached team that already has a game under their belt to begin the new campaign. This could be a spot in which there is some value on Jokic to have a little bit of trouble scoring the basketball.

Stephen Curry UNDER 25.5 Points (-110, BetMGM)

Add this pick with 1 click!PLACE THIS BET ONBETMGM

Curry played 32 minutes on opening night against the Lakers, which is mostly in line with his 32.2 minutes per game from last year. Curry is now 37 years old, with Golden State likely in the last year of their championship window with their current core. HC Steve Kerr is not likely to overexpose Curry to injury risk with high-minute totals on a regular basis, particularly not early in the season. If Buddy Hield and the rest of Golden State’s bench pieces continue to perform at a high level, there is even less reason to push Curry’s workload. The under has some value.

Stephen Curry UNDER 4.5 3-Pointers Made (-120, BetMGM)

Add this pick with 1 click!PLACE THIS BET ONBETMGM

Last year, Curry averaged 4.4 made 3-pointers per game. That number is still incredibly impressive, but it was his lowest in a single season since 2017-2018. Another year older, it’s more likely that we see that number regress even further this season rather than trend back up. Curry only attempted 9 shots from beyond the arc in Golden State’s season opener. It’s not unreasonable to think that he could see slightly less usage this year with Jimmy Butler on the team and the bench replete with quality depth. Curry probably goes under this number more frequently than he goes over this number this season.
