NFL DFS Duds Report: Reviewing Week 10
It didn’t go well for everyone in this week’s NFL slate. We need to look back on the duds of DFS after a slate of an otherwise eventful day in the NFL. We had great action on DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo for daily fantasy sports, but these players may have spoiled your fun. We’ll reflect on the DFS projections and NFL ownership projections, and look for ways we could have avoided these low scoring plays for our DFS lineups. Using our ResultsDB tool, let’s take a look back at three of the very worst picks players made.
Today’s ResultsDB Low DFS Scorers From Last Week
Duke Johnson

DraftKings Salary: $5,000
FanDuel Salary: $5,800
Yahoo Salary: $16
DraftKings Fantasy Points: 5.4
DraftKings Fantasy Ownership: 22.58%
Duke Johnson had a 92.7% RB snap share in Week 10. He had a 92.3% RB route share. He had a 93.8% RB opportunity share. Yet he only scored 5.4 DK points. It seems reasonable to chalk Johnson’s fantasy stinker up as mostly bad luck. The Texans placed David Johnson on IR which means Duke should continue to see ample opportunity over the next couple of weeks. Duke is someone you’ll want to keep in your player pool moving forward despite his disappointing Week 10 performance against the Browns.
Michael Thomas

DraftKings Salary: $7,400
FanDuel Salary: $8,500
Yahoo Salary: $30
DraftKings Fantasy Points: 4.7
DraftKings Ownership: 14.46%
What an absolute disaster. Michael Thomas was one of my favorite Week 10 tournament options and he put up an absolute dud, catching just 2-of-7 targets for 27-yards. If there’s any sliver of hope to hold onto regarding Thomas moving forward it’s the fact that backup QB Jameis Winston targeted Thomas on 5-of-11 passing attempts. Winston is expected to split snaps with Taysom Hill in Week 11 and Thomas will once again make for a tempting tournament target in a matchup against an Atlanta Falcons defense that has been very giving to opposing passing attacks all season.
Evan Engram

DraftKings Salary: $4,500
FanDuel Salary: $5,600
Yahoo Salary: $16
DraftKings Fantasy Points: 3.5
DraftKings Ownership: 16.47%
Evan Engram was the highest owned TE in Week 10’s Milly Maker and he was a big-time disappointment, catching just 2-of-3 targets for 15 yards. While Engram’s performance was obviously underwhelming, he was far from a lineup killer as TE position once again was terrible as a whole, with Rob Gronkowski (2-51-1) the highest-scoring TE on the main slate with just two catches. In general, it has been a successful strategy to save as much money as possible at the position this season, and that should be easy to do in Week 11 as no TE on the main slate is priced above $5,000.
