NFL Week 3 Player Props — QB Pick for Titans at Vikings
Kirk Cousins Over/Under 254.5 Passing Yards (use our DraftKings promo code to get these odds)
The Titans playing the Vikings in Minnesota sounds about as exciting as painting two walls and watching intently to see which will dry first. Pessimism aside, the Titans and Vikings share an overt willingness to run the air out of the football — regardless of efficacy.
Minnesota currently stakes claim to the most paltry number of plays per game one could imagine through two games — 48 plays with 20 being rushing attempts despite being way behind. The Vikings averaged only 20:09 minutes of possession in the two contests and need something to reestablish a relatively successful offense from 2019. So, of course, Gary Kubiak plans to bring a progressive gameplan to Week 3 against the Titans.
Yikes! If that is not alarming enough, the Vikings welcome a Titans team that averages 34 rushing attempts per game. With only 29:39 minutes of time of possession per game, the Titans cannot even combine with Minnesota’s time of possession to fill a complete football game. With only 113 passing yards in a game trailing the Indianapolis Colts, I do not have a great deal of confidence in Kirk Cousins going into Week 3. Let’s run back the under after it barely missed with Cousins in Week 1 and cash our bet in Week 3. I will take the under.
My Pick: Under 254.5 Passing Yards -112
NFL Week 3 Player Props — RB Pick for Jets at Colts
Jonathan Taylor Over/Under 77.5 Rushing Yards (DraftKings)
Speaking of the Colts, the loss of Marlon Mack opened the door for Jonathan Taylor to be unleashed in Week 2. Taylor saw 26 rushing attempts for an inefficient 101 yards on the ground. Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins combined for 10 carries in a positive game script for the Colts heavy rushing attack. Taylor’s role as the alpha is undeniable and a juicy matchup awaits him at home in Indianapolis.
The Jets will travel to Indy to presumably get shellacked by the Colts. Few — if any — teams in the NFL have looked as hapless as the Jets, seemingly unprepared to compete each week. A brutally bad defense combined with an incompetent offense is a great recipe for an opponent’s rushing attack when facing a negative game script. The Jets currently allow five yards per carry in 2020 after only allowing a league-best 3.3-yard average in 2019.
Taylor is the perfect mix of workload and matchup and will surely be a popular DFS option on all sites and in all formats. I will get some exposure by taking the over on this prop.
My Pick: Over 77.5 Rushing Yards -112
NFL Week 3 Player Props — WR Pick for Bears at Falcons
Allen Robinson Over/Under 5.5 Receptions (DraftKings)
Speaking of terrible defenses, the Atlanta Falcons are making an early habit of getting shredded by opposing wide receivers. So far in 2020, the Atlanta defense has ceded 524 receiving yards to the wide receiver position. Equipped with a very young secondary, wideouts are taking advantage.
Enter Allen Robinson and his nine targets per week in 2020. Robinson is unsurprisingly frustrated with his situation in Chicago. Contract talks resumed as the #ExtendAR movement gains more traction. Despite all of the noise off the field, Robinson’s role in the Chicago offense is pretty firm.
Here is the problem, Robinson’s targets are thrown by Mitch Trubisky. Despite Trubisky’s deficiencies under center, Robinson is very accustomed to starring with sub-par quarterback play. Robinson will likely see an improvement to hi 33.33% catch-rate from Week 2 with the Falcons’ secondary representing the perfect tonic. Robinson should see double-digit targets in a game where the Bears will likely need to throw the football. I expect Allen and Mitch to connect at a higher percentage this week in a very winnable matchup on the outside. Give me the over at a nice price.
My Pick: Over 5.5 Receptions +108
