Best NFL Week 8 Player Props at Online Sportsbooks

bigben800

Last week, we picked up a shekel going 2 for 3 with our NFL prop picks. Melvin Gordon exceeded his rushing total in a negative game script after Phillip Lindsay left the game with an injury. This week we look for a Halloween-themed sweep. Prepare for plenty of spooky vocabulary to be shoehorned into the prose while you sift through my favorite Week 8 treats, ahem, player props.

NFL Week 8 Player Props — QB Pick for Steelers at Ravens

Ben Roethlisberger Over/Under 254.5 Passing Yards (use our DraftKings promo code to get these odds)

In a wildly terrifying matchup, Big Ben and his high-octane Steelers offense travel to Baltimore for a marquee matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. The pivotal AFC North matchup means so much — first place in the division, divisional matchup, head-to-head… the stakes are high for Week 8. While the rest of the NFL deals with ridiculous wind and weather, Baltimore is not offering a beautiful fall day — likely wet with wind gusts stronger than 10 to 15 MPH.

The much scarier factor for Big Ben is the spooky Ravens defense. The Baltimore defense keeps the doors open for pass attempts (38.7 per game) but does not allow much with those attempts (6.0 passing yards per attempt). The Steelers defense has given plenty of short fields this year. With an arsenal of explosive weapons, Big Ben’s offense is scoring very efficiently. We are not worried about scoring, though. Passing yards? The undefeated Steeler QB has only eclipsed this number twice this season.

This game will likely be a knock-down, drag-out slugfest — not really the type of Halloween party I want to attend. Trick or treat? TRICK! I will take the under at -112 at DraftKings.

My Pick: Under 254.5. Passing Yards -112

NFL Week 8 Player Props — RB Pick for Raiders at Browns

Kareem Hunt Over/Under 23.5 Receiving Yards (use our FanDuel promo code to get these odds)

The Raiders travel east to Kareem’s Hunted House… (crowd boos). Anyway, in probably the worst weather game of the weekend, Kareem Hunt will be accumulating all of the Halloween candy (yards, I’ll stop) he can eat against a friendly Raider defense.

Hunt will be a popular DFS option this weekend as the Las Vegas defense allows a second-worst 32.9 DraftKings points per game to running backs. While Hunt will see his fair share of work on the ground in a windy game, he should also see plenty of work in the air on short passes. Without Odell Beckham, Baker Mayfield needs someone to make dynamic plays. With the wind, downfield passing will be troubling. The Raiders have allowed 9.0 receiving yards per catch to opposing running backs. That type of efficiency makes this one of my favorite props all season.

Hunt was on the field for 92.2% of snaps in Week 7 and saw a whopping 14.30% target-share. Trick or treat? TREAT! I want this over in a big way. Give me the over on FanDuel Sportsbook. Additionally, I am interested in the over on his 3.5 receptions prop on DraftKings at -104.

My Pick: Over 23.5 Receiving Yards -110

Note: This line has moved up to 27.5 Yards at PointsBet but you can still bet Over 25.5 Receiving Yards at DraftKings.

NFL Week 8 Player Props — WR Pick for Titans at Bengals

Tyler Boyd Over/Under 62.5 Receiving Yards (FanDuel)

In a Halloween props article, I surely must include a Bengal. I may or may not be joking. Regardless, the involvement of Tyler Boyd in the Bengal’s offense is no laughing matter. Joe Burrow keeps slinging and Tyler Boyd remains a prime beneficiary.

There is literally nothing frightening about this game environment for either offense. A smorgasbord of treats will be handed out to DFS players and sports bettors. The Bengals (2nd) and the Titans (5th) rank in the top five of the NFL in plays per game. This game is the equivalent of the house that puts out the big bowl of candy with a sign… “Take One.” Yeah, right. Stack it up, I am taking the whole bowl.

Tyler Boyd has seen 13, 8, 6, and 8 targets over the last four weeks with a big 11-catch, 100-yard performance last week against the Browns. The Titans are about as bad against wide receivers — allowing 151 targets to the position in only 6 games. If the Titans get a lead and finally lean on the Big Dog, Burrow will be looking for his main target all game.

Trick or treat? Easily a TREAT for this black-and-orange receiver on Halloween weekend. I will bet over 62.5 receiving yards over on FanDuel.

My Pick: Over 62.5 Receiving Yards -110

Note: This line has moved up to 70.5 Yards at PointsBet but you can still bet Over 64.5 Receiving Yards at FanDuel.
