NFL Playoffs: Divisional Round Betting Picks for Seahawks at Packers
The Green Bay Packers will host the final game of the NFL Divisional Round against the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle already defeated one division victor on the road and look to ouster the Packers en route to another NFC Championship game. With potential injury trouble on the offensive line for Seattle and a very healthy Packers team coming off a bye, will the return of Marshawn Lynch keep the momentum rolling for the Seahawks? Will the Packers defend their home field?

NFL Divisional Round Analysis — Seahawks at Packers
The Green Bay Packers enter the game pretty healthy after a bye week int he opening round of the playoffs. Only Kenny Clark remains a question mark for Green Bay on Sunday. Clark was a force on the inside for a bolstered Packers’ defense this season and would be a massive asset considering the state of the Seattle offensive line.
The Seahawks are limping into their second playoff game on the offensive line front with injuries to Mike Iupati, Duane Brown, and George Fant putting the pocket of Russell Wilson in jeopardy. Ziggy Ansah will be a game-time decision while Jadeveon Clowney should play. The running back issues are well-known for the Seahawks but Marshawn Lynch will likely be ready for an expanded role in his third game.
The Green Bay Packers finished the season 13-3 albeit in less-than-dominant form. Contrary to reputation, the Packers were not carried by Aaron Rodgers and the offense. Instead, the much-improved Packers defense — led by Kenny Clark, Preston Smith, and Za’Darius Smith — wreaked havoc on opposing offenses. Green Bay finished in the top half of the league in opponent points per game and sack percentage and top ten in average scoring margin.
While the pass defense improved, the Packers can be had on the ground. Green Bay allowed 120.1 rushing yards per game due to a very pedestrian 4.7 rushing yards per game. The Seahawks already look to employ a rush-heavy approach — averaging 29.8 attempts per game. Seattle will likely look to exploit the hole in Green Bay’s defense.
While Pete Carroll seems satisfied with feeding his backfield copious amounts of attempts, he is fortuned to coach one of the better playmakers at the quarterback position. Despite leading the NFL with 48 sacks, Wilson averaged 8.0 yards per attempt while throwing for 4,110 yards and 31 touchdowns. Wilson was outstanding against the Eagles in the Wild Card round — going 18/30 with 325 passing yards. Wilson added 45 rushing yards on the ground. DK Metcalf emerged as a true threat with 7 catches for 160 yards on nine targets. Metcalf’s emergence as a playmaker will complement Seattle’s run-first approach as a downfield playmaker for Wilson.
The Packers will lean on Aaron Jones and Davante Adams — the two weapons Aaron Rodgers trusts the most. Jones finished the season with three 100-yard performances in his last four games and should be unleashed after a bye week against a Seahawks defense that struggled down the stretch. With the Legion of Boom a thing of the past, Davante Adams will be peppered with targets as A-Aron’s most trusted option.
NFL Divisional Round Betting Pick
With the Seahawks style of play and the Packers’ weakness against opposing rushing attacks, I think the Seahawks keep this game close enough to cover a 4.5-point spread. Pete Carroll wants to play a tight game and won’t unleash Russ until absolutely necessary. Possessions should be limited for a Green Bay offense that hasn’t impressed throughout the season. Regardless of the victor, I believe this game stays close until the very end. With that being the case, I will gladly take the points.
The Pick: Seattle Seahawks +4.5 (-108) (PointsBet)
NFL Divisional Round — Seahawks at Packers Player Props
NFL Divisional Round — Marshawn Lynch Over 34.5 Rushing Yards on DraftKings Sportsbook
After receiving 12 and 6 carries in his first two games with the Seahawks, I estimate that Lynch will tote the ball more for the Seahawks on Sunday. With the Packers’ defense being so generous to running backs, “Beast Mode” can exceed this total pretty safely if given 15-20 carries. GridironIQ projects Marshawn to rush for more than 50 yards. I agree and will take the over.
Over 34.5 Rushing Yards -112
NFL Divisional Round — Davante Adams Over 6.5 Receptions on FanDuel Sportsbook
Adams is the unquestioned favorite target of Aaron Rodgers in the Green Bay passing game. In his last three regular-season games, Adams saw 13, 16, and 13 targets and finished with 7 or more catches in all three games. The Seahawks’ defense is very questionable but Adams should be force-fed the ball as much as possible on Sunday. I will take the over.
Over 6.5 Receptions -108
