NFL Week 2 Player Props: Best Bets at Online Sportsbooks

Article Image

After an exciting opening week, the NFL kicked off with another wild primetime game on Thursday. The Football Team barely scraped together a victory. On Sunday, we are treated to a full slate of games and a massive menu of betting options. Let’s find some NFL player props to include in our best bets for Week 2!

Recap

Last week, I was able to luckbox into a 3-0 start to the season — locking up three precious units early. The Raheem Mostert saved what likely would have been a losing under ticket. Publishing the article prior to the Trey Sermon news, the anticipated timeshare was not existent. Our Carson Wentz ticket just cleared the over. Carson Wentz looks like a quarterback that will be tough to figure in his new home — as he surely did not light a fire for the Colts’ offense.

Lastly, Stefon Diggs stayed under his receiving prop. The Steelers’ defense looked pretty good despite the pass-only approach from the Bills. I think we will be targeting receivers against the Steelers’ pass defense this season. Better lucky than good, they say. I will take the good fortune and move into Week 2 after a good start.

Make sure to check out our our game breakdowns in the sports betting section and some NFL betting tips prior to diving into this weekend’s action.

NFL Week 2 Player Props — QB Pick

Trevor Lawrence Over/Under 252.5 Passing Yards

An opening loss was not the storybook start to the career of the first pick in the NFL Draft. Despite accumulating 300 yards, Lawrence struggled with consistency. Throwing three touchdowns, Lawrence turned the ball over three times in a blowout loss against the Watson-less Texans. Lawrence accrued 51 passing attempts as the Jaguars did everything they could late to try an overcome a big deficit.

I don’t think 51 passing attempts is what the Jaguars drew up for Lawrence in his first start. Surely, the Jaguars probably thought James Robinson would be afforded more carries in a more-balanced approach. That said, after a 300+ yard passing day, Lawrence comes into Week 2 with a pretty lofty passing prop at 252.5 across online betting sites.

With Denver heading into town after an opening win against the Giants, I am not sure Lawrence can replicate the yardage total from Week 1. If anything, the Jaguars should offer James Robinson more opportunities if the game is close. Even with 40 attempts, Lawrence would need to be far more efficient to exceed this total. Give me the under for 1.15 units.

PROP BET: 1.15u on Lawrence Under 252.5 Yards (-115) at BetMGM

NFL Week 2 Player Props — RB Pick

Derrick Henry Over/Under 85.5 Rushing Yards

Well, the Big Dog did not eat in Week 1. Despite 17 carries, Henry only amassed 58 yards in a one-sided affair against the Cardinals. The Cardinals surprised in Tennessee — moving the ball at will on the way to a strong opening road victory. Due to the lopsided score, the Titans were forced out of their typical identity — feed Derrick Henry.

So, despite being able to move the ball in the air late and having a plethora of weapons, I expect the Titans to force the establishment on the road against Seattle. Since 2019, Henry boasts ten 100+ rushing yard performances with a few occurring in the playoffs. Add Julio Jones? No matter. Coach Mike Vrabel and company want to run the ball.

In fairness, the Titans would be wise to do everything they can to keep their putrid defense off the field. Pete Carroll also has a penchant for taking the air out of the ball but even he might be tempted against this porous defense. I expect Henry to get the ball early and often while the game script is close. Henry’s rushing lines were extremely larger last year — I want to buy before they approach triple digits again. I will take the over at PointsBet for 1.15 units.

PROP BET: 1.15u on Henry Over 85.5 Rushing Yards (-115) at PointsBet

NFL Week 2 Player Props — WR Pick

Kyle Pitts Over/Under 48.5 Receiving Yards

In Week 1, Kyle Pitts disappointed daily fantasy owners with a bit of a scoring dud. That said, the rookie tight end — considered by many to be the best NFL prospect in this draft class, saw enough opportunities to suggest future success.

Pitts saw just as many targets as Calvin Ridley (8) in Week 1. The rookie caught four of his 8 targets for a measly 31 yards. I am very encouraged by the usage and expect Pitts to feature as Matty Ice’s second option in the passing game throughout the season. Further, the Falcons seem likely to be playing from behind against a Buccaneers defense that was just shredded in the air by the Dallas Cowboys on the opening night of the football season. The Cowboys are definitely more dynamic, but Matt Ryan could be left with no option but to throw the ball 50+ times against a Tampa Bay defense that gives up nothing on the ground. Pitts could see more targets.

With a little room after the catch, Pitts can smash this over in the first half. My favorite play of the week, I will take the over for a little less vig on BetMGM for 1.1 units.

PROP BET: 1.10u Pitts Over 48.5 Receiving Yards (-110) at BetMGM
