What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
TastefulTides: Single-entry and 3-max GPPs are my preferred format. All the elite skaters and lines you could want are on this slate. I think I am going to be fading Nathan MacKinnon. That doesn’t mean that you have to, but I think I am going to be focusing on the Oilers, Maple Leafs, and Jets as my primary spend-ups. Logan Thompson is my favorite goalie, who I will be using in all formats. I don’t usually take such a strong stance on the extreme high variance of goalies, but I really like his price, and the Hurricanes have the 2nd-highest SOG in the NHL.
boggslite: Large-field tournaments – With a large 13-game slate, ownership should be spread out, even with some superstars in great matchups. Up top, I have the stars ranked Nathan MacKinnon, Connor McDavid, and then Auston Matthews based on their linemates, but I will have exposure to all three. I also like the Senators and Islanders in their respective matchups. I’ll likely look for upside in net, rather than play it safe with one of the expensive goalies on this slate.
Joda: Single-entry tournaments are my preferred format tonight. A quick glance over each team’s last 10 games shows the following teams at the bottom of expected goals against per 60 minutes at 5v5: Boston, San Jose, Detroit, and Anaheim. My plan is to attack these teams with guys like Kyle Connor, Auston Matthews, Connor McDavid, and Leon Draisaitl. For salary relief, Boone Jenner is simply mispriced. Max Shabanov has a PP1 role for the Islanders. Arseni Gritsyuk has a PP1 role for the Devils. Vladimir Tarasenko has a PP1 role for the Wild.
Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
