What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

TastefulTides: Single-entry and 3-max contests are my preferred format. This is a massive slate. Even with some obvious spots, I think ownership will really spread around. The Avalanche and Golden Knights are my two favorite stacks in terms of raw points. I do think there is some merit in going with two balanced lines for builds. The Islanders and Hurricanes – specifically NYI2 and CAR1 – are two of my preferred line stacks.

boggslite: Large-field tournaments – I won’t be going out of my way to avoid targeting teams playing on back-to-back nights this early in the season, and I actually see it as a benefit getting more live game action under their feet after several teams looked sluggish in their first game of the season. Instead, I will play the matchups, as the weaker teams in the league rarely get good over the course of an offseason. I’ll look to spread my exposure around to the top lines of Boston, Tampa Bay, Carolina, Colorado, and Vegas on a night where ownership should be spread out.

Joda: Large-field tournaments are my preferred format tonight. Although there are 14 games on the slate, I suspect ownership will condense on Colorado and Vegas. One team I like is Detroit, who gets Montreal on the tail end of a road back-to-back. They have some cheap top-6 pieces that can help you spend up elsewhere. Another team I like is Vancouver, who gets Calgary on the tail end of a road back-to-back. Their top line of Jake DeBrusk, Elias Pettersson, and Brock Boeser could take advantage of a thin Flames team. Last season was a major disappointment for Pettersson, and I would rather be early than late for a potential bounce-back. It’s an excellent spot.

Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
