General Observations

The Boston Bruins went and added Ondrej Kase at the deadline while also being able to unload the David Backes anchor contract, which was fascinating. They only had to give up a 1st round pick which I would have thought would be the starting point for the oft-injured winger. Nevertheless, the first place team in the NHL just created an absolutely deadly top-9 with the addition of Nick Ritchie as well.

I still believe that the Vancouver Canucks adding Tyler Toffoli was a fantastic move. He’s been an analytics darling for a few years now and playing alongside Elias Petterson will certainly keep things rolling. The argument was that Vancouver shouldn’t be buying, but the West is pretty bad that I think they can do some damage if Jacob Markstrom gets hot at the right time.
