My homework this week is to find an old school chalkboard and write “I will not eat bad chalk” a thousand times. I continue to hit the good low-owned leverage plays and I continue to eat the chalk that busts. Adam Trautman was a player nobody had heard of last Wednesday and ultimately became the most popular tight end value by Sunday morning. Once I saw Sean Payton say that he was starting, I fell for the trap. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the only trap I fell for — Darrell Henderson was named the starter in a nice matchup against the Giants and ultimately was out-snapped and out-touched by Malcolm Brown. On top of it all, the first two players that I originally tagged as core plays for the week were Joe Mixon and Amari Cooper, who I naturally got away from by the time Sunday rolled around. My goal this week is to not overreact to injury news and coach speak, to trust my gut, and to follow the sage advice of Michael Scott… “Don’t be an idiot” As Dwight Schrute said, “Whenever I’m about to do something, I think, ‘Would an idiot do that?’ And if they would, I do not do that thing.”
As far as the actual core plays from Week 4, Dalvin Cook, Mike Davis, Alvin Kamara, and Stefon Diggs all had nice outings, so hopefully a few of you fared better than I did. The core plays are always subject to change based on injury news, so make sure to check my tags throughout the week and check back on Sunday morning for my update once we have all of the relevant information for the slate.
