Denver Nuggets

We aren’t at Mile High anymore

The Nuggets are an unblemished 9-0 on their home floor to begin the new season, but they are only 5-6 on the road. In 11 road contests, Denver ranks 12th in the league in Net Rating, having been outscored by 0.3 points per 100 possessions.

Playing away from home, Denver is weaker on the glass and they foul their opponents at a significantly higher rate than they do in front of their home fans. Perhaps most notable is the fact that the Nuggets have shot 39.5% from beyond the arc at home (4th-best), but only 34.5% on the road (22nd-best). Denver’s inability to consistently make shots from the perimeter on the road has been a consistent pain point for their offense this year.

Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon listed as QUESTIONABLE

Jamal Murray returned to the floor on Wednesday against the Rockets to play 22 minutes, which was the first time he had appeared in a game since November 4. Tonight, he is listed as questionable due to a right ankle sprain. Aaron Gordon is also listed as questionable due to a right heel strain. Gordon, who shot 0-for-12 from the field on November 24, has not played in over a week.

Sacramento Kings

Kings looking to defend home court

The Kings have only two losses at home this season – one coming in October against the Warriors and the other coming this past Wednesday on the second night of a back-to-back set. Since losing to Golden State in the second game of the season, the Kings are 5-0 on their home floor with at least one day of rest. Those five wins have come against the Lakers, Trail Blazers, Thunder, Cavaliers, and Warriors.

Sacramento was emotionally flat on Wednesday against Los Angeles, following a thrilling come-from-behind victory over Golden State the night before in the NBA’s In-Season Tournament. This group should be much more rested and spirited on Saturday than they were the last time we saw them take the court.

Keegan Murray listed as QUESTIONABLE

Keegan Murray is officially listed as questionable for tonight’s action, as he continues to work his way back into game shape. Murray last played on November 20 in a road loss against the Pelicans. Murray had started each of his first 13 games of the season, averaging 13.2 points and 6.2 rebounds in 33.1 minutes of action. If he is able to return to the floor tonight, it will be a boost for an already talented Sacramento lineup.

Denver Nuggets vs. Sacramento Kings Prediction

Kings -3.5 (-110), BetMGM

It always feels wrong to bet against Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets, but the reality is that Denver is a much less intimidating presence on the road than they are at home. Further, Denver played in Phoenix last night, with Jokic, Michael Porter, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope each logging at least 35 minutes of action. The Kings have been off since Wednesday and are potentially going to have Keegan Murray return to the starting lineup. Sacramento is a deserving home favorite in this spot.
