NBA PrizePicks Predictions Today

Chet Holmgren More/Less Than 36 Fantasy Points

Chet Holmgren came through for us on Wednesday, so why not run it back? The upstart Thunder will be back in action tonight when they return home to host Miami. OKC will have the rest advantage in this one, as the Heat went down to Dallas and suffered a defeat just yesterday. The Thunder, meanwhile, are fresh off of a close win in Portland a couple of nights ago.

This is a matchup between two of the best defensive teams in the sport. Oklahoma City enters tonight’s clash ranked 5th in defensive rating, while the Heat are 8th. Miami is still playing their extremely slow-paced style, while the Thunder are 8th in possessions per game. Holmgren gets a tough individual draw against perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate Bam Adebayo, but he’s impressed in several difficult matchups over the course of the year.

Holmgren is averaging about 17 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and better than 2 blocks per game, and I’d expect him to fare well tonight against a potentially fatigued Miami defense.

Jordan Poole – More/Less Than 29.5 Fantasy Points

This has been the season from hell for Jordan Poole thus far, but could he finally be snapping out of it? The Wizards’ swingman is still averaging nearly 17 points per game on the year, though his efficiency (40.7% FGs, 31.8% 3P%) has left plenty to be desired.

However, he seems to have found something since moving to the 2nd unit. The former NBA champ has scored at least 26 real points in 3 of the last 4 games, and his shooting percentages are way up. Poole is shooting better than 50% from the floor over his last 6 games. This could be a small-sample blip, or maybe he’s finally turned a corner.

Tonight, Poole and the Wizards are in an advantageous matchup against a woeful and shorthanded version of the Hornets. Washington’s 113.75 total is higher than their season average, and they’re actually favored in this game despite entering the contest riding a 16-game losing streak. It’s not the most comfortable play, but I like Poole to keep the good times rolling here.

Amen Thompson More/Less Than 11.5 Points + Rebounds

Amen Thompson won’t be winning Rookie of the Year, but the first-year Rocket has played his way into a bigger role over the past couple of months. Minutes are still hard to come by with Fred VanVleet and Jalen Green entrenched as the starting guards, but Thompson typically makes the most of his chances when he is on the floor.

Thompson is tall for a guard (6’7”), and he’s quickly become one of the best rebounders at his position in the sport. Amen is actually averaging just over 10 rebounds per 36 minutes.

Tonight’s HOU/POR matchup features two of the three worst shooting teams in the sport by field goal percentage. There should be plenty of rebounds to be had for both teams here, and Thompson is still typically good for a handful of points per game even without much shooting touch.

Thanks to the matchup, I think Thompson can put up some solid numbers in this one, even with limited playing time.
