NBA PrizePicks Predictions Today
Nic Claxton More/Less Than 39.5 Fantasy Points
This is looking like a lost season for the Nets, who enter Monday’s action at just 18-27 and on the outside looking in at the Eastern Conference Play-In Tournament. Brooklyn will get a much-needed boost on Monday with the expected return of Ben Simmons, who’s been sidelined since early November with more back trouble. Given the long layoff, however, we only have Simmons projected to play 16 minutes here in his return vs. the visiting Jazz.
One of the bright spots for Brooklyn this season has been Nic Claxton. Claxton enjoyed a breakout season in 2022-23, and he’s averaging a double-double this season for the first time in his career. Claxton is also one of the game’s more underrated rim protectors, as he’s blocking north of 2 shots a night for the 2nd season in a row.
Simmons was playing some center early in the season, but Claxton’s minutes have been massive of late with Day’Ron Sharpe out injured. His average of 33.8 minutes per game in January is well north of his 29.8 season average, while he’s logged at least 37 minutes in each of the last 3 games. We can’t necessarily expect that kind of playing time here, but the matchup against a fast-paced Utah team is a favorable one.

Alperen Sengun More/Less Than 9.5 Rebounds
The Rockets have tailed off in recent weeks following a surprisingly hot start to the season. One player who’s been consistent throughout, however, has been Sengun. Houston’s 3rd-year big man may ultimately fall just short of securing an All-Star appearance, but he’s putting the league on notice. Now that he’s finally playing for a coach that believes in his talent, Sengun is thriving. The Turkey product is averaging career highs in points (21.9), rebounds (9.2), and assists (5).
Sengun and the Rockets will return home tonight to take on the Lakers. This is a solid rebounding spot, as LA is just 21st in the league this season in team rebound rate. This will already be the 4th meeting of the season between these teams, and Sengun is averaging exactly 10 rebounds per contest through the first 3 games.
There’s foul trouble risk for Sengun in a matchup against Anthony Davis and LeBron James, but he’s been able to keep his hands to himself thus far, as evidenced by the 2.3 fouls per game across the previous 3 meetings. Sengun has a path to a big night on the boards in this one.
- PLAY: MORE Than 9.5 Rebounds
Giannis Antetokounmpo More/Less Than 31.5 Points
The Bucks’ season hasn’t necessarily gone according to plan, but Giannis is posting yet another MVP-caliber campaign. The Greek Freak is averaging 31 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 6.2 assists a game. This is the 2nd straight season in which Giannis is averaging at least 31 points.
Tonight’s clash between the Bucks and Nuggets should be a fun one, as a pair of 2-time MVPs are set to do battle in the Mile High City. This isn’t a particularly appealing spot for Milwaukee, however, as Denver has historically been a much better defensive team at home. It’s always an adjustment for a visiting team to play at elevation as well.
Giannis scoring at least 32 points in this one means he’d essentially hit his season average, but I think there’s merit to taking Giannis to fall just short in this one. Denver historically protects the paint pretty well with Nikola Jokic in the lineup, and we know that’s where Giannis does the vast majority of his damage offensively.
