Ravens vs. Buccaneers Same Game Parlay Preview
DraftKings Sportsbook posts the Ravens as 3.5-point road favorites against Tampa Bay on Monday night. Despite pounding the Saints, the Buccaneers aren’t getting as much credit as the Ravens. For a 4-2 home team, 3.5 points is a big statement. Will the Buccaneers throw this number on the bulletin board?
ScoresAndOdds suggests that the Buccaneers should use the bulletin board for Monday night. Sharps and public bettors love the Ravens, with a nearly 70/30 split on betting action favoring the Ravens’ side of the spread. If we want to fade everyone, we can use the old rationale regarding home teams and a field goal. I am not sure that will be the case on Monday night.
Speaking of lopsided betting action, the implied game total is up a full 2.5 points after nearly all of the betting action took the over in tonight’s contest. The implied game total now sits at 50 points just after lunch on Monday. With the Ravens offense clicking and the Buccaneers’ latest efforts, this comes as no surprise. We anticipate plenty of points with both teams effective at stopping the run. We should see plenty of throws.
The Ravens come into Monday night very healthy. Keaton Mitchell is reported to be headed towards leaving the IR soon. The Ravens have no reason to rush him back with Derrick Henry arguably playing the best football at the position in the league. For the Buccaneers, Mike Evans will play. We await news on Vita Vea, Rachaad White, Trey Palmer, and Antoine Winfield. White’s role could be lessened with the emergence of Bucky White and Sean Tucker. The Buccaneers would obviously love to have Vea and Winfield against one of the best offenses in the league.
Baltimore leads the NFL in yards per rushing attempt on defense and offense. Derrick Henry is dominating opposing defenses after the Ravens adjusted their offensive scheme to match Henry’s skillset. Lamar Jackson continues to thrive as well, ranking in the top 10 in the league in passer rating. The Ravens are a conundrum for defensive coordinates as Lamar Jackson can make any defense pay when over-committing to the run or pass.
Consequently, the Tampa Bay defense ranks in the bottom half of the league in yards per rush attempt but has improved drastically against the pass. Tampa Bay ranks 11th in yards per pass attempt on defense. We can’t be sure if this is a matter of their schedule or their ability, but we know for sure Baltimore will test both. The Ravens will very likely attack the Buccaneers on the ground until it proves too challenging.
Baltimore ranks 28th in yards per pass attempt on defense. The Ravens can be had through the air. We expect Chris Godwin and Mike Evans to be the beneficiaries of a game plan tailored for the Baltimore Ravens. Evans was the lone Buccaneer to not explode against the Saints. Expected at full health for this game, Evans should have his number called against a Ravens defense that plays a lot of man defense.
Let’s comb through DraftKings’ prop selection and build our same game parlay for Monday Night Football.
Same Game Parlay Picks for Ravens vs. Buccaneers
- Derrick Henry Under 84.5 Rushing Yards
- Mike Evans Over 4.5 Receptions
- Baker Mayfield Over 12.5 Rushing Yards
Derrick Henry Under 84.5 Rushing Yards
The King regained his crown over the past few weeks with dominant performance after dominant performance. Henry’s big-play upside was reestablished, and he feels impossible to bring down when the Ravens have a big lead.
So, in a script for a favorite, Henry is likely to run the ball often in this one. True. Yet, I am still not certain that Tampa Bay is that leaky to running backs. Alvin Kamara had 13 carries for 40 yards against the Buccaneers. While the Saints had to throw, the Buccaneers completely erased the ground game against the Saints.
Derrick Henry is playing at a high level, and the Ravens offensive line is hyper-talented. That said, the Buccaneers defense is notorious for selling out to stop the run and make their opponent pass the football. Against Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry, I would load the box too.
Mike Evans Over 4.5 Receptions
The Ravens play a lot of man defense. This is great news for one of the best jump-ball receivers in the NFL.
Evans had a quiet game against the Saints in a blowout. The Buccaneers are likely to be in a neutral game script at best on Monday night. Since the Ravens all but eliminate opposing rushing attacks, we should expect Baker Mayfield to throw the football repeatedly.
If Evans sees his more normal workload, this number is too low.
Baker Mayfield Over 12.5 Rushing Yards
Finally, with the Ravens playing man defense and the Buccaneers potentially trailing, grabbing the over on Baker’s rushing prop feels good. Mayfield is known for making plays and is not shy with his legs.
With the Ravens secondary turning their backs to Mayfield, Baker could find some room to run. Mayfield isn’t looking to slide immediately and is known for fighting for every yard, so this number could prove to be really low.
We are less worried about the kneel-downs at the end of the game since the Buccaneers could be potentially fighting from behind. Baker could run for more than 20 yards against Baltimore.
Ravens vs. Buccaneers Parlay Odds
- Derrick Henry Under 84.5 Rushing Yards
- Mike Evans Over 4.5 Receptions
- Baker Mayfield Over 12.5 Rushing Yards
