Rays vs. Dodgers Game 6 Odds and World Series Picks

The Tampa Bay Rays have their backs against the wall and the Los Angeles Dodgers are one win away from their first World Series title since 1998.

Extending the series one more night won’t come easy against the best lineup in baseball.

Updated World Series Odds: Game 6

Tony Gonsolin will get the nod for the Dodgers, who opened as -153 moneyline favorites following their Game 5 victory. With a little more than half of the betting handle on the Rays, per ScoresAndOdds, the moneyline has shortened to Dodgers -143/Rays +123 as of Tuesday morning.

The Rays should be optimistic facing the rookie right-hander. Gonsolin, 26, was great during the regular season but has struggled this postseason. His 9.39 postseason ERA is reason for concern for Dodgers bettors.

Gonsolin pitched only 1.1. innings in Game 2, giving up a home run to Brandon Lowe in the top of the 1st and walking Manuel Margot in the second. He also gave up home runs in each of his outings in the NLCS, and he gave up five runs to the Angels in his final regular-season appearance prior to his postseason debut.

Gonsolin won’t be in there for long, though, as the Dodgers will likely turn to a bullpen game. This bullpen game, however, won’t include Clayton Kershaw.

On Monday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Walker Buehler, Julio Urias and Kershaw would all be unavailable.

The Rays will counter with Blake Snell, a lefty who gave the Dodgers fits through the first four innings of Game 2 before giving up two runs in the 5th and leaving with a no-decision.

The Rays have had a difficult time taming the Dodgers’ bats, but Snell might be their best hope in doing so.

World Series MVP Odds

Four Dodgers sit atop the current World Series MVP betting board at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Corey Seager +175
Clayton Kershaw 260
Walker Buehler +700
Justin Turner

Our bet on Brandon Lowe still has a chance if the Rays can win tonight, but it’s Randy Arozarena whom sportsbooks give the shortest odds.

Randy Arozarena +500
Brandon Lowe +1100

Game 6 World Series Picks

The Dodgers are using a bullpen approach in Game 6 but they aren’t made for that kind of game quite like the Rays are. If Kershaw was available from the bullpen it would be one thing. However, he Buehler and Urias are all being saved for a potential Game 7.

Meanwhile, Tampa Bay’s ace, Blake Snell, will take the mound Tuesday night. Snell looked great in his last outing, while Gonsolin has struggled since his last start of the regular season.

I expect the rays to take this to Game 7, where the Dodgers will close the deal and Clayton Kershaw will earn World Series MVP honors (note: I do not think there’s value on Kershaw’s current MVP odds).

Game 6 Pick: Rays +125
