Red Sox vs. Rays Same Game Parlay Picks and Player Props

The 2021 MLB Playoffs are upon us, and Friday night brings us Game 2 of the Divisional showdown between the Boston Red Sox and the rival Tampa Bay Rays. Tampa got off to a 1-0 series lead with a 5-0 win over Boston, making tonight’s primetime affair a must-win game for the Sox. As we have caught the PointsBet Same Game Parlay bug, we have decided to put together a custom-made parlay to build the excitement even more for this one.

A Same Game Parlay basically just means a parlay consisting of multiple correlated wagers from one specific game. It provides bettors with good options to bet a game—and piece together props into a parlay within that game—beyond just the standard spread, moneyline, and over/under totals.

Let’s dive into our favorite Same Game Parlay bets for this exciting Friday evening divisional showdown, and let’s make some money!

Red Sox vs. Rays Same Game Parlay

Total Same Game Parlay Odds (4 Legs): +880

To Bet: $100 | To Win: $880 | Total Payout: $980

Red Sox vs. Rays Prop Bets

Moneyline (Shane Baz vs. Chris Sale) – Boston Red Sox (+120)

In a single-game baseball parlay, the aim should be to mix one or two low-risk bets with one or two high-reward bets. And the high-reward bets shouldn’t be inconceivable or totally unlikely. Thus, I’m starting with the battle-tested Red Sox on the moneyline at +120. They have been in the position of underdog many times under manager Alex Cora, and they have surprised the baseball world more times than we can count. Even though Boston’s bats are banged up, I still like veteran ace Chris Sale (5-1. 3.16 ERA, 11K/9) to outduel rookie Shane Baz (2-0, 2.00 ERA, 12.2 K/9). Sale has led this Red Sox team to a World Series win, while Baz has only started three Major League games. If Sale can put up a vintage performance, and the Sox can get some timely hitting from their current core four (Xander Bogaerts, Rafael Devers, Hunter Renfroe and Alex Verdugo), I like them to even the best-of-three heading back to Boston.

Pick Your Own – Player Hits – Alex Verdugo To Record 2+ Hits (+250)

Of course, if the Sox do tie the series up, I fully expect Alex Verdugo to play a crucial role. The Sox outfielder has been awesome down the stretch, with 12 multiple-hit games since August 23. Boston probably wouldn’t get into the playoffs without the young slugger, and it cannot get past the feisty Rays without a solid performance from him. Considering the young hurler Baz has never faced any of the Sox, I like Verdugo’s chances to land a couple of hits tonight. It’s a high-risk leg for a parlay, but at +250 it also yields a high-reward payout.

Pick Your Own – Pitcher Strikeouts – Chris Sale To Record 6+ Strikeouts (-350)

Now, for the easy money. Without adding too much risk to our parlay, this leg offers us a very doable game prop. Sale has recorded at least six strikeouts in each of his last three starts, and six of his nine starts during the 2021 season. The veteran ace remains one of the more dominant and clutch pitchers in baseball, and I think he can mow down six or seven Rays with ease. He had six K’s the last time he faced Tampa on September 6.

Total First 5 Innings (Shane Baz v Chris Sale) – Over 3.5 (-121)

Taking into consideration how aggressively Tampa approached its at-bats in Game 1, and how urgent the Red Sox will be in a must-win atmosphere this evening, I’m going with the OVER on 3.5 runs through five innings. Baz has very little big-league experience, and he’s never started a playoff game, so I think Boston will tee off early and often in this one. And nobody would be surprised if the Rays’ electric rookie Randy Arozarena jacked a home run. Dating back to Tampa’s World Series run last season, Arozarena has homers in four of his past five playoff games. He had an MLB-record 10 homers in the 2020 postseason. Lock in the OVER and root for the runs.
