Early in 2024, the NFL is down to two undefeated teams. The Vikings are 5-0 after a win versus the Jets in London. The Chiefs look to match Minnesota on Monday night when they welcome the New Orleans Saints. The Saints opened the season with two landslide victories before dropping their last 2 games. While the Chiefs haven’t lost in 2024, the offense hasn’t clicked on all cylinders and will now proceed without Rashee Rice and Isiah Pacheco. Can the Saints capitalize and win for the 3rd time?

Saints vs. Chiefs Same Game Parlay Preview

The Saints are precipitous underdogs on DraftKings Sportsbook for Monday Night Football. As of this writing, the Chiefs are 5.5-point favorites with an implied game total of 43 points. The Chiefs haven’t given bettors a reason not to be favored, even if their offense is struggling out of the game. Without key weapons, it will be interesting to see if Kansas City can cover this number.

ScoresAndOdds shows the Saints side of the betting spread getting a bit more love than the Kansas City side. Overall, 60% of the money bet on the spread has sided with New Orleans throughout the week. For the implied game total, we have a staggering difference between the betting tickets and actual dollars. At the time of writing, 82% of the bets placed on the game total have gone on the over. Yet, the betting handle is split 50/50 between both sides. Key injuries could hamper the Kansas City offense, and the Saints’ high-powered offense cooled off, so points might come at a premium on Monday night.

Rashee Rice will undergo a procedure on his knee on Monday. While he is on injured reserve, it’s safe to assume Rice will be gone for far longer than the minimum 4 games. Rice joins Isiah Pacheco on the sidelines as the Chiefs will need others to step up. Clyde Edwards-Helaire is doubtful for Monday night so we should anticipate another dose of Kareem Hunt with Samaje Perine and Carson Steele available for backup work. Hunt carried the ball 14 times against the Chargers for 69 yards. As for the wide receiving corps, Xavier Worthy could see more opportunities if Andy Reid can draw up creative ways for his explosive rookie to touch the football. Travis Kelce might assume a larger role on Monday night. Will Kelce be able to handle a larger workload?

For the Saints, Alvin Kamara and Chris Olave were listed as questionable but will play on Monday night. Taysom Hill will not play to the delight of Alvin Kamara fantasy owners. The Saints are considered a heavy participant in the Davante Adams sweepstakes set to begin this week in the NFL. For Monday night though, it looks like all systems go for New Orleans. Derek Carr needs to get back on track after a couple of mundane weeks. In a hostile Kansas City environment, we should see plenty of Alvin Kamara.

The New Orleans Saints possess the top-scoring offense in the NFL on the back of two 40+ point performances in Weeks 1 and 2. The Saints offense sputtered a bit, but Alvin Kamara and Chris Olave continue to be focal points for New Orleans. Olave has 16 targets in the last 2 games. Kamara saw 19 carries and 9 targets against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4. Kansas City allows only 3.8 yards per rush attempt on defense. Look for Derek Carr to get both Olave and Kamara involved in the passing game early.

The Saints defense should be the true story in 2024. New Orleans possesses a 17.5 PPG average against opposing offenses in 2024. When the offense struggled over the past 2 weeks, the Saints could not get the job done despite strong performances on the defensive end. Despite the strength, the Saints allow 4.8 yards per rushing attempt. The aforementioned Kareem Hunt could see an increased workload on Monday night to hide the deficiencies in the receiving room for the Chiefs.

Without Rashee Rice, the Chiefs leaned on the ground game and Travis Kelce. Kelce finished the game with 7 catches for 89 yards. He was targeted 9 times. Xavier Worthy and Noah Gray finished with 4 targets each. Through four games, tight ends totaled 17 catches against the Saints.

Let’s look at the vast menu of betting props and build our same game parlay.

Same Game Parlay Picks for Saints vs. Chiefs

Under 43 Points

I cannot find the points. With an extremely effective defense and an offense that is so conservative, I can’t find a path for the Chiefs to score a pile of points on. The Chiefs have scored fewer points than the previous in each of the first 4 weeks of the season.

Without Rashee Rice, Patrick Mahomes will struggle to improve his league-low average depth of target. He has Travis Kelce at his disposal, who continues to show his age and a bevy of inexperienced receivers. While Kareem Hunt was very efficient against the Chargers, the rushing attack does not inspire confidence either.

The Saints offense exploded in the first 2 weeks of the season. Those huge outputs seem to do more with the opponents and less to do with the offensive talent. Especially outdoors, I don’t see the Saints moving the ball very effectively against a strong Chiefs defense.

Give me the under.

Kareem Hunt Over 45.5 Rushing Yards

Hunt impressed in his first work as a Chief since being signed. Carson Steele fumbled the ball again and Hunt took over the backfield.

The result was 14 carries for 69 yards (4.9 average). Hunt included 2 catches on 3 targets. With an extra day to prep, I would assume his workload should increase. Without anyone pushing him, Hunt could inch closer to 20 touches. He doesn’t need to be as efficient to go over.

This number has climbed significantly since opening, but I think we still have room for growth. If the Chiefs win a low-scoring game, expect Hunt to rush for more than 50 yards.

Juwan Johnson Over 1.5 Receptions

Despite holding most teams at bay, the Chiefs have been pretty leaky against tight ends. Granted, the numbers are skewed because of a big day from Isaiah Likely, but the Chiefs have allowed a league-worst 30 catches to tight ends. These statistics include all of the Week 5 games that have been played too.

Against a weaker tight end room, the Chiefs allowed 4 receptions to the Chargers’ tight ends in Week 4. Without Taysom Hill, Foster Moreau and Juwan Johnson might be on the field a bit more. Johnson caught 2 passes on 3 targets last week and had a similar effort against Carolina.

We are going to go over on Johnson’s receptions for article purposes. That said, I will look through betting sites to see if it’s possible to build a same game parlay with Moreau and Johnson both getting one catch.
