Rams at 49ers SNF Betting Preview

The Rams travel to San Francisco on Sunday night to meet the currently reeling 49ers. These are not your mama’s 49ers… well, they may be. I suppose it depends on… nevermind. At 2-3, the injury-laden, reigning NFC champs are struggling to get out of the game.

The Niners will finally bring a healthy offense to the field tonight at home. With Raheem Mostert back and Jimmy Garoppolo making the start, apparently fully healthy, the Niners also bring a full complement of receivers with George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk, and Deebo Samuel suiting up. The defense will still be without some talent as Richard Sherman is not ready to return and Kwon Alexander is out for the Sunday Night affair. Frank Warner will fill in for Alexander while Emmanuel Moseley returns to a secondary that needs all the help they can get.

Conversely, the Rams come to San Francisco with all cylinders firing. Only without Jordan Fuller at safety, the revived Rams offense welcomed back Cam Akers in Week 5. Akers shares the backfield with Darrell Henderson and Malcolm Brown — none of the trio are safe DFS options in a congested timeshare.

The Rams offense is on the rebound in 2020, ranking in the top ten in yards per play (6.2) and first in yards per pass attempt (8.7). Jared Goff leads the NFL in net yards per pass attempt and rests in fourth with a 71.7% completion rate. Goff and his pass-catchers will look to take advantage of a 49ers defense that was just shredded by the Dolphins to the tune of 436 total yards and 4 touchdowns. Ryan Fitzpatrick had a field day with three passing touchdowns and a 78.6% completion rate. Again, if your mama took ownership in the Niners last year, this ain’t it.

The Niners offense will look to get something going as they currently rest in the bottom half of the league in both yards per play and yards per game. The previously efficient offense featuring a dynamic running game and a freak athlete at tight end has not been on display, yet. Unfortunately, the Rams lead the NFL with a measly 5.5 yards allowed per pass attempt. Resting at second in sack percentage (9.95%), the Rams defense is playing extremely well and will look to keep the divisional rivals down.

Sunday Night Football Betting Picks

Yes, the Rams are on the road. Yes, Jimmy Garoppolo is back and the Niners are slowly getting healthier. No, that does not restore enough confidence in San Francisco for me on Sunday Night.

With the line currently resting at 2.5 points on FanDuel (Sunday morning), I want to buy the Rams before the chasers start throwing money around after the afternoon window. I will confidently lay the points tonight on FanDuel.

SNF Betting Pick: Los Angeles Rams -2.5 (FanDuel)
