NFC Championship Game, Sunday – NFL Player Props
- Jalen Hurts Over/Under 199.5 Passing Yards
- Saquon Barkley Over/Under 24.5 Rush Attempts
- Terry McLaurin Over/Under 5.5 Receptions
Jalen Hurts OVER 199.5 Passing Yards (+110, Bally)
There has been a lot of talk in recent weeks about the underwhelming performance of Hurts, but it’s not entirely clear that those comments are justifiable. In the Wild Card round, Hurts was coming back from a multi-week absence due to a concussion. He played poorly, but Philadelphia also had little incentive to air things out, playing from in front for the entirety of the contest. Last week, the Eagles threw the ball only 20 times in extremely cold, snowy weather conditions.
Today, Hurts will face a Washington defense that allowed the 2nd-highest rate of explosive plays during the final 6 weeks of the regular season. This is also the best weather that Hurts and the passing game has seen during the playoffs, with the forecast calling for 40-degree temperatures and minimal wind.
Hurts has thrown for 200+ yards in over half of the Eagles’ wins this season. Facing a very beatable secondary unit, this is a bet with a lot of value at plus money.
Saquon Barkley UNDER 24.5 Rush Attempts (-103, DraftKings)
Barkley has gone over this number in both of Philadelphia’s first 2 postseason games, but only barely, despite playing with a lead in cold weather conditions in both of those games. Today, the temperature is expected to be around 40 degrees, which can be classified as balmy this time of year. This is also the NFC Championship Game, so no matter if Philadelphia is favored, bettors cannot assume that the Eagles will dominate the Commanders in the same way that they have handled the Packers and Rams in recent weeks.
Warmer weather could lead to slightly more passing for Philadelphia’s offense, as could an unexpected negative game script. Washington has also dominated the time of possession in both of their first 2 playoff games, which could further limit the total number of opportunities that Barkley sees on the ground. The under makes a lot of sense, even if it might be a psychologically intimidating bet for some fans.
Terry McLaurin UNDER 5.5 Receptions (-160, FanDuel)
McLaurin has had troubles with the Philadelphia secondary unit this season, catching only 6 passes for 70 receiving yards across 2 regular season meetings. McLaurin has seen a lot of his snaps come against CB Quinyon Mitchell in those matchups, and he was notably not even targeted when covered by Mitchell in their first head-to-head meeting in Week 11. Mitchell has had similar success against other premier receivers this season, including CeeDee Lamb, Ja’Marr Chase, Mike Evans, and Drake London. McLaurin has 6+ receptions in only 8 of 19 games this year, including only 1 of 5 Washington losses. The math favors the under.
