The Baseball Diaries: Thursday, August 6th
Welcome to the Baseball Diaries. This is a morning after review of my main team(s) on a designated site. I’ll go over the process that went into selecting the players, good or bad, in hopes you will find something in here that ultimately helps your team selection.
If you’re not trying to learn, then just kick back and read for the revelry. Sometimes the tilt is real…and highly entertaining for the observer. Here’s a review of my night on DraftKings.

Process
Madison Bumgarner / Drew Hutchison
In cash games, the easy choice was to pair Bum with Harvey and call it a day. That combo plus a home run would have probably been enough to cash most double ups. I got greedy and saw the price on Hutchinson and also the home/road splits and took a risk. It didn’t pay off as this team didn’t cash.
Adrian was the top player I wanted to have in my lineups last night for value. His price was way too low for a guy playing a mediocre right-hander in a smaller than normal ballpark for him.

Troy Tulowitzki / Jose Bautista / Bryce Harper
By going the Hutchinson route, I was able to get three top level studs in this lineup. The problem was that by downgrading my pitcher, I needed more production from these guys. Harper had all the makings of a huge day and ranked top of the list for sheer production last night for me, but he definitely didn’t live up to the price tag.
Cain was my biggest mistake I think. Take that back, it may have been catcher, but none the less he was a mistake. I paid too much for a slightly above average player. I was enticed by the matchup. I spent way more than I should have. Really, I should have cut way down on this spot and two others and taken Harvey.
Typically, I punt catcher when there is no one I really like and I spent too much on Conger for this game set. I thought he had a solid chance for a nice game against Texas, but in the end he is just a reserve catcher and I paid for it.
