Vanek's Views: DraftKings NFL DFS Tips for Week 3 WRs
Using his experience as a former scout and staff member at Central Florida under Josh Heupel, Jordan Vanek takes an in-depth look at the upcoming NFL DFS main slate on DraftKings. Formerly of The 33rd Team and 4for4 Fantasy Football, Jordan will do a deep dive into the best ways to attack the wide receiver position to help you climb the leaderboards.
We’re only two weeks into the NFL season, and after just one week, we were ready to throw Kirk Cousins and Marvin Harrison Jr. out on the streets! As Aaron Rodgers once said, R-E-L-A-X. Cousins is 36, coming off an Achilles tear, facing the Steelers’ brutal defense in his first live action with the Falcons, in a new scheme, and with new players… let’s give things some time.
As for Harrison, he’s a rookie who made his debut against the Bills’ secondary, which seems to shut down even the best wide receivers in the NFL (just ask Tyreek Hill). Maybe the Bills are just that good at covering WRs, and we shouldn’t be targeting high-priced options against them. Early in the season, football can be a bit unpredictable, but now we have two weeks of data to help make more educated guesses moving forward.
At RotoGrinders, we’re always fine tuning our projections to stay ahead of these shifts to take advantage of the panic, and our NFL DFS optimizer is an essential tool for identifying the best possible outcomes. The early season may bring uncertainty, but our tools and the data we are adapting to will allow us to start sharpening our strategies, finding value, and making more informed decisions moving forward.

Vanek’s Views: DraftKings NFL DFS Tips for Week 3 WRs
Stacks
C.J. Stroud ($7,100, QB, Houston Texans)
Nico Collins ($7,300, WR, Houston Texans)
Tank Dell ($5,200, WR, Houston Texans)
Jalen Nailor ($4,400, WR, Minnesota Vikings)
I don’t think the Texans will run the ball much in this matchup, and while Brian Flores’ defense is great, it relied heavily on turnovers to stop the 49ers. Brock Purdy threw for 319 yards, Jordan Mason rushed for 100 yards on 20 attempts, and Deebo Samuel and George Kittle found success through the air. With Joe Mixon banged up, the Texans will likely lean on their passing game, similar to how the Seahawks approached things this past weekend. With Kenneth Walker out, instead of fully relying on Zach Charbonnet, they gave him 14 rushes while Geno Smith threw it 44 times. C.J. Stroud hasn’t quite clicked with Tank Dell yet this season, but at a price point of $5,200 in a game where volume should increase, I’m betting on the talent showing through. As for Stefon Diggs, he’s great, but he’s a bit too expensive. If I’m paying up for a Texans WR, it’s Nico Collins. He’s the alpha in this offense, and while the Vikings will try to take him away, I don’t think they have the personnel to match his size, speed, and ability.
It’s still early in the week regarding the Vikings’ WR injuries, but I loved what I saw from Jalen Nailor this past weekend. He’s primed for a big-play opportunity against the Texans’ defense. The Texans’ CBs have been playing aggressively downhill, which opens up chances for deep shots if you’ve got speed, and Nailor has been separating on deep routes consistently. He was the go-to target on a crucial 3rd and 8 with Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison sidelined, and if Addison sits again, I’m all in on Nailor for this stack. Jefferson, of course, is always a strong option and could have an “Amari Cooper last season” kind of performance against the Texans. But I think some of those deep shots could go Nailor’s way.
