As for now, on to the fantasy football WR rankings for Week 5!
Week 5 Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Rankings
1. Justin Jefferson – Jefferson will be necessary for the Vikings to hang with the Chiefs this week. Who is benching Jefferson anyway?
2. Tyreek Hill – For me, Hill and Jefferson are tied. Play them both if you have them. You don’t of course, but wouldn’t that be nice?
3. Stefon Diggs – Diggs went ballistic last week, scoring three times and racking up 120 yards on the back of just six receptions. Jacksonville is not a formidable defense against the pass.
4. Ja’Marr Chase – Chase has looked abysmal this year, averaging the fewest fantasy points this season of his career so far. He has not scored. But as Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush would tell you, “Don’t Give Up.” This is still Chase, Tee Higgins is out, and they’re playing the Cardinals.
5. Puka Nacua – It remains to be seen how Cooper Kupp’s return will eat into the incredible work Nacua is doing, but until it does, it would be unwise to sit him.
6. Davante Adams – Adams gets to play against his former team (if he plays- monitor the news). He should have no trouble putting up numbers against this Packers defense.
7. Nico Collins – The matchup against Atlanta isn’t pretty, but Collins already has two games this year over 140 receiving yards.
8. A.J. Brown – The Rams defense has not been as poor as predicted. Brown could thrive but will have his work cut out for him.
9. Michael Pittman – Another week, another time to play wide receivers against the Titans and their famous pass funnel defense.
10. Chris Olave – Olave is the Saint’s best receiving weapon, and against a Patriots team that gave up over 280 receiving yards to the Cowboys last week, Olave should have little issue producing.
11. Brandon Aiyuk – Dallas has one of the best defenses in the league so far. Still, somebody has to win the game (unless there is a boring tie after OT). Aiyuk is perhaps San Francisco’s best weapon in this game not named McCaffrey.
12. Garrett Wilson – In case you haven’t heard, the Broncos defense is atrocious. The Jets offense is too, but Wilson should thrive against Denver.
13. DeVonta Smith – The A.J. Brown commentary holds true here. Still, this is a powerful offense capable of putting up a huge score in a hurry.
14. CeeDee Lamb – This is a tough matchup for offense all around given the defensive prowess of both the 49ers and the Cowboys.
15. Jaylen Waddle – Waddle will surely play second fiddle to Hill in this matchup, but that doesn’t make him a bad choice.
16. DeAndre Hopkins – As bad as Tennessee is against the pass, the Indianapolis Colts have been worse.
17. Christian Kirk – Calvin Ridley has been a disappointment so far this season, and Kirk draws the best matchup against Taron Johnson.
18. Adam Thielen – Carolina hasn’t been able to win any games, but Thielen isn’t the reason why. He’s had 7, 11, and 7 receptions in the last three games.
19. Romeo Doubs – Doubs has only improved as the season has progressed, going from 26 yards in the season opener to 95 his last time out.
20. Cooper Kupp – Kupp is expected to make his debut this week. If you picked him, you’ve been waiting for this moment.
Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Notes
With bye weeks coming into play, Week 5 begins the stretch in which things can get scary. Maybe you prepared for this when you drafted. Perhaps you are savvy enough on the waiver wire to fill in your gaps. Or your strategy might very well be to play your backups and let the chips fall where they may.
Whatever the case, there is still injury news to monitor. Amon-Ra St. Brown is unlikely to play. Davante Adams didn’t practice Friday. Christian Watson is questionable. Be prepared to react to news when it is available.
Good luck in Week 5!
