Week 9 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings
It’s rookie fantasy football QB week! Last week, Kirk Cousins went down with a torn achilles and the trade deadline sent Joshua Dobbs to replace him. While Dobbs won’t be ready this week, we have a plethora of rookie quarterbacks to choose from, in addition to our regular top 4 leading the list. Lamar Jackson stopped me from a massive DFS week with Gus Edwards punching in all the touchdowns. However, he still leads the Week 9 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings.

Week 9 Quarterback Rankings
1. Lamar Jackson – He disappointed last week with Gus Edwards scoring the touchdowns, but this offense is rolling.
2. Patrick Mahomes – Fast pace, great matchup against Miami. I almost had him at 1 this week.
3. Jalen Hurts – Tough matchup against Dallas, but I don’t think it matters for Jalen.
4. Josh Allen – Huge AFC primetime matchup against the Bengals, I think Josh shows up.
5. Tua Tagovailoa – This will likely be the highest-scoring game of the week in Germany.
6. Dak Prescott – Great matchup against the Eagles pass funnel.
7. Joe Burrow – Burrow is back baby. The Bills excel at pressuring the QB, but I expect Joe to show out in primetime.
8. Justin Herbert – Tough matchup, but there’s a huge gap to tier 3 after Herbert.
9. Matthew Stafford – If he plays, he’s totally viable, his backup will not be.
10. Geno Smith – Geno is a fine bye week, injury replacement or Superflex option in Week 8.
11. Derek Carr – Carr finally played some good football last week, let’s see if it lasts.
12. Sam Howell – The rookie QB excelled against the Eagles and has another strong matchup this week.
13. C.J. Stroud – He struggled as DFS chalk last week but is a fine option this week.
14. Kyler Murray – I’d love to take the wait-and-see approach on Kyler, but I don’t think we have a choice if you’re in a tough spot.
15. Gardner Minshew – Minshew could probably be as high as 10th on the list this week, he’s totally viable as a fantasy football qb replacement.
16. Will Levis – It’s a tough matchup against a Steelers team that is great at rushing the QB, but Levis looked awesome in his first start.
17. Bryce Young – I never really want to play Young, but it’s a great matchup.
18. Daniel Jones – If Jones plays he’s viable. If it’s Taylor, only in an emergency scenario. De Niro, De Vito, De Ville, whatever his name is? Nope.
19. Kenny Pickett – Yuck, but he’s in the top 20. Like I said, it drops off hard this week.
20. Baker Mayfield – Mayfield is almost always good for 15-ish fantasy points.
21. Zach Wilson – I guess it’s a great matchup? Yuck, again.
22. Mac Jones – A fast-paced matchup, but Jones just lost his top receiver.
23. Jordan Love – Fantasy projections have Love higher than this, but he’s looked so, so bad.
24. Desmond Ridder – Whether it’s Ridder or Heineke, 24 feels like the right spot in the Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings.
25. P.J. Walker – Bump if its Deshaun Watson, slightly.
26. Jimmy Garoppolo – Wow did he ever look pathetic against the Lions.
27. Tyson Bagent – He’s somewhat serviceable but the matchup is tough, maybe ahead of Jimmy G.
28. Jaren Hall – Only starting because Joshua Dobbs won’t know the playbook yet.
Fantasy Football QB Notes
Things get dicey after the top 8, especially considering Matthew Stafford and Daniel Jones could miss this week with injuries. I’d feel very confident plugging in the group of Lamar Jackson through Justin Herbert without hesitation. However, after that set of players, we find ourselves having to rely heavily on rookies in the Week 9 Fantasy Football QB Rankings. While I would do my best to avoid Jaren Hall, Tyson Bagent and the bottom of the list, Sam Howell, C.J. Stroud and Will Levis all look like strong options to fill out bye weeks and substitute someone viable in for the injuries of Kirk Cousins and potentially Stafford and Jones.
