MLB Daily Grind Down May 27th Part 3

The RotoGrinders MLB Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the MLB schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit.
While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy baseball, there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, weather, and salaries. The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. No sport has more variance than baseball. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time. (any fp listed uses Fanduel’s scoring system)

Las Vegas
- OU 9
- Favored ATL -120
Pitchers
- Home Only a time machine could make a matchup between Mark Buehrle and Tim Hudson worth mentioning. Buehrle has been inconsistent on the year and has seen his K/9 ratio dwindle to unplayable status. ATL is batting .240 on the road, .240 versus left-handers, and .267 over the last 7 days. Avoid
- Away Does anyone believe that Tim Hudson has a shot at 300 wins at age 37? He has had a great career but is no where near the pitcher he used to be. He is the slight favorite today but I do not rust him against this hot TOR team. TOR is batting .264 at home, .253 versus right-handers, and .297 over the last 7 days.
Batters
- Home Jose Bautista has been hot producing 35.5 fp over the last week. Emilo Bonifacio is 7-18 versus Hudson .
- Away ATL as a team is batting .315 versus Buehrle. Consider everyone playable. Chris Johnson hits lefties very well and B.J. Upton has the best numbers versus him.

Las Vegas
- OU 8.5
- Favored BOS -190
Pitchers
- Home Alfredo Aceves may be the huge favorite in this one but are you really going to start a player with an 8.20 ERA and 2.04 WHIP? PHI is batting .242 on the road, .242 versus right-handers, and .251 over the last 7 days. Avoid
- Away I know Vegas has him listed as a huge dog but am I wring to think Tyler Cloyd is playable on a multiple pitcher site. His 2.70 ERA in his first two starts is very good considering his price and he has had his ground ball pitch working recording 1.5 ground ball outs to every 1 fly ball. In Play
Batters
- Home If you trust Vegas then the left-handed bats are all in play this afternoon. The high OU makes me think a stack is playable also.
- Away Ladies and Gentlemen start your PHI stacks. The left-handed bat of Domonic Brown is playable either way. He is hot producing 27.25 fp over the last 7 days.
NY Yankees at NY Mets

NYY BvP | NYY vs L | NYM BvP | NYM vs R
| Note: Batter Splits Above Open in Pop Up Window | |||||||
Las Vegas
- OU 7.5
- Favored NYY -115
Pitchers
- Home The MLB chose to make this holiday into a rivalry series. Jonathon Niese is not the guy you want to throw out in a rivalry game. He should keep the game competitive but he will not keep your LU competitive because he does not get enough Ks to matter. NYY is batting .243 on the road, .232 versus left-handers, and .220 over the last 7 days. Avoid
- Away Phil Hughes is the slight favorite in this game with a low OU so that means Vegas expects him to pitch well. He has a good K/9 ratio. He just rarely makes it enough innings for that to matter. NYM is batting .215 at home, .231 versus right-handers and .214 over the last 7 days. In Play
Batters
- Home The left-handed bats seem playable today because Hughes had struggled. Rick Ankiel offers a ton of power for a very small price.
- Away NYY has raised its batting average versus left-handers recently. They have done that by switching in more right-handed bats into there LU. Look to those bats for value. As bad as Niese has pitched, I would consider playing everyone.
Chicago Cubs at Chicago White Sox

CHC BvP | CHC vs L | CHW BvP | CHW vs R
| Note: Batter Splits Above Open in Pop Up Window | |||||||
Las Vegas
- OU 7.5
- Favored CHW -115
Pitchers
- Home Jose Quintana has pitched well on the year and Vegas is slating him to get the win but do you really want to take a player you know is not going to get you that many Ks in the hope that he can get you the win versus Jeff Samardzija? CHC is batting .221 on the road, .231 versus left-handers, and .229 over the last 7 days. Avoid
- Away Vegas has this game wrong. Jeff Samardzija is as good as any pitcher in the league right now and should roll through a slumping CHW team. He has hue K/9 upside so if they spot him for a few he will most likely get enough Ks to offset the damage. CHW is batting .228 at home, .243 versus right-handers, and .242 over the ;ast 7 days. Target
Batters
- Home I do not recommend playing the fade but if you decide to then I would select one of the big bats and hope they go yard.
- Away Alfonso Soriano and Starlin Castro both bat really well versus left-handers. Darwin Barney offers good value and should get the start today.

LAA BvP | LAA vs R | LAD BvP | LAD vs L
| Note: Batter Splits Above Open in Pop Up Window | |||||||
Las Vegas
- OU 7
- Favored LAA -120
Pitchers
- Home Zack Grienke home ERA is a sick 0.77. He is a former CY Young winner so I do not need to tell you he is a great play at home. LAA is batting .240 on the road, .269 versus right-handers, and .298 over the last 7 days. Target
- Away much was written about C.J. Wilson ‘s demise but now he has a 3.39 ERA and looks as sharp as ever. He has been a 2.39 pitcher in day games and could be a nice GPP play against a struggling LAD team. LAD is batting .255 at home, .285 versus left-handers, and .241 over the last 7 days.
Batters
- Home Adrian Gonzalez is 4-10 versus Wilson and hits left-handers well. Nick Punto is batting over .400 versus left-handers and Matt Kemp gets the traditional splits in his favor.
- Away If you are playing the fade then Eric Aybar is 7-16 versus Grienke, Josh Hamilton has been hot producing 27 fp over the last week. Mike Trout has been even hotter with 46.5 fp.
