What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 8.5
- Favored Team – STL -160
Pitcher Grind Down
HOU – Erik Bedard has really pitched well in his last two starts and he has always been a guy that has pitched well at home. Bad news for Bedard is that he has to face this nasty Cardinals offense. I’m not touching any pitcher’s against the Cardinals. Avoid
STL – Lance Lynn has been much worse on the road this season than he has at home. His ERA on the road jumps to over 4 and his WHIP is a lot higher as well. This usually scares me away, but the Astros are still the team that strikes out more than any other team and I expect Lynn to get some good run support. Target
Batter Grind Down
HOU – I never like to take the Astros, there are just too many things that could go wrong.
STL – Target all of the Cards that are good against lefties: Holliday, Molina, Craig, Freese. Basically just target the Cards.

NYM vs L | NYM BvP | CHW vs R | CHW BvP
What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 8.0
- Favored Team – CWS -130
Pitcher Grind Down
CWS – If you look at John Danks season long numbers you would say that he is very average. Then take a look at his numbers at home and you would think he is one of the best pitchers in the league. At home Danks has a 2.57 ERA and a 0.570 WHIP, not bad at all. In Play
NYM – Shawn Marcum has been awful on the road this season and the White Sox have finally found a groove offensively. If things play out how they should, expect a nice night from the White Sox. Avoid
Batter Grind Down
CWS – Marcum’s struggles and the fact that the White Sox have been scoring runs should be a perfect storm. I like De Aza, Rios, Viciedo, and maybe even Adam Dunn on sites that don’t negate for K’s.
NYM – The Mets have been on a roll lately so it could be a decent spot for some sleeper picks. David Wright is by far their best hitter and is in play against Danks.

ATL vs R | ATL BvP | KCR vs L | KCR BvP
What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 8.0
- Favored Team – ATL -135
Pitcher Grind Down
KC – Luis Mendoza continues to pitch a little better than I expect him to, yet he still doesn’t pitch very well. He has a 4.30 ERA and a 1.450 WHIP. I doubt anyone will pick him and you should take that same route. Avoid
ATL – Mike Minor is typically a much better pitcher on the road than he is at home. I don’t love the matchup against the Royals who lead the league in not striking out. I think Minor’s upside is average and that he is overpriced. Avoid
Batter Grind Down
KC – Billy Butler, Lorenzo Cain, and Salvador Perez all hit lefties well. If Minor’s road struggles continue, they could be solid plays.
ATL – The Braves bats are in a good spot against Mendoza. I think all of them are in play but I really like the way Brian McCann has been playing lately.

PHI vs L | PHI BvP | SDP vs L | SDP BvP
What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 7.0
- Favored Team – PHI -150
Pitcher Grind Down
SD – Robbie Erlin is a young pitcher making his second career start. He pitched well in his first start, but he wasn’t anything too great in the minors. My philosophy is to take a wait and see approach with these pitcher call-ups. Avoid
PHI – Cole Hamels has not been good and I think it’s that time where we stop waiting for him to get it together. The Padres hit lefties well and I think they will make Hamels pay for his mistakes. Avoid
Batter Grind Down
SD – Kyle Blanks has been crushing lefties this season and is a great play in the OF even though it is in a hitter’s park. I also like Chase Headley as a value play.
PHI – Don’t love the lefty/lefty matchups for Howard and Brown so if you are going to take any Phillies, maybe take a shot on Mayberry or Rollins.

SFG vs L | SFG BvP | LAD vs R | LAD BvP
What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 6.5
- Favored Team – LAD -180
Pitcher Grind Down
LAD – Clayton Kershaw gets the start tonight against the Giants and you know how good Kershaw is. He hasn’t exactly been worth his price tag lately, but I think that could change tonight against the Giants who he has owned in his career. Target
SF – Tim Lincecum is better at home. Even though he has pretty good numbers against the Dodgers, it’s hard taking a pitcher against Kershaw, especially on sites with only one pitcher. Avoid
Batter Grind Down
LAD – I like the spot for Adrian Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez even though their BvP against Lincecum isn’t that strong. Also, the Grind Down wouldn’t be complete without a Puig recommendation.
SF – Against Kershaw? No thank you!
