MLB Player Props Today
- Cristian Javier u6.5 strikeouts
- Jordan Lyles o16.5 outs recorded
- Kris Bryant more than 8.5 hitter fantasy score
Cristian Javier u6.5 strikeouts (-135), BetMGM
Entering play on Monday, Cristian Javier is yet to strike out more than six batters in a game this season. He had six punchouts against the Chicago White Sox, five against the Detroit Tigers, and three in his most recent start against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Tonight, he gets a tough matchup against the Toronto Blue Jays, which rank fourth in strikeout percentage to begin the new campaign. Throughout his career, Javier has traditionally relied on whiffs in the strike zone to earn strikeouts. Facing a Toronto offense that ranks eighth in contact percentage on pitches inside the zone this year, it is likely that Javier goes under this market number for his fourth consecutive start.
Jordan Lyles o16.5 outs recorded (-140), DraftKings
Jordan Lyles has been terrible to begin the season, with a 5.19 ERA, 5.80 xERA, and a 3.79 FIP in 17.1 innings. However, he gets a favorable matchup in this spot against a Texas Rangers team that played on Sunday Night Baseball yesterday and is likely to be dealing with travel fatigue for Monday’s affair. On April 3, the Philadelphia Phillies scored only one run the day after playing on Sunday Night Baseball. On April 10, the San Diego Padres were shut out the day after playing on Sunday Night Baseball. Tonight, the Rangers’ offense is likely to suffer from some of the same issues. Trust Lyles to get deep into this game
MLB DFS Pick’em
Kris Bryant more than 8.5 hitter fantasy score, PrizePicks
In his career, Kris Bryant owns a .299 batting average, .971 OPS, 13.7% walk rate, and a 154 wRC+ against left-handed pitching, compared to a .274 batting average, .847 OPS, 10.6% walk rate, and a 126 wRC+ against right-handed pitching. Tonight, he gets a favorable matchup against one of the worst left-handed pitchers in baseball – Rich Hill, who owns a 7.20 ERA, 8.82 xERA, and an 8.26 FIP through three turns in the rotation this season. Hill has been particularly poor against right-handed batters, with a 9.17 FIP, .278 opponent batting average, and a 1.46 WHIP. Expect Bryant to have a strong performance this evening.
