MLB Player Props Today

James Outman o0.5 total bases (-145), BetMGM

James Outman has been nothing short of sensational to begin 2023 in his first extended run of MLB action. Through his first 76 plate appearances, Outman owns a .277 batting average, 19.5% barrel rate, and a .997 OPS. Against right-handed pitching, he has been 52 percent better than the league average hitter to begin the year. On Saturday, he will face Hayden Wesneski, who has allowed a .246 opponent batting average against left-handed batters during the early portion of his career. Early in 2023, left-handed hitters own a .429 batting average and a 1.262 OPS against him. Take the over here.

Fernando Tatis o1.5 total bases (-135), BetMGM

In two games since returning from his lengthy suspension, Fernando Tatis has only one hit in nine plate appearances, none of which have gone for extra bases. His approach at the plate has been horrific, swinging at 33.3% of the pitches that he has seen outside of the zone and making contact on only 72.7% of the pitches that he has seen in the zone. However, Tatis is far more talented than what the early returns indicate. Merrill Kelly has been atrocious to begin 2023, particularly against right-handed batters, which have a .900 OPS against him. Expect Tatis to have his first productive day of the season on Saturday.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Kris Bryant more than 1.5 total bases, PrizePicks

When Kris Bryant faces a southpaw, we will frequently be attacking this prop. In his career, Bryant owns a .301 batting average, .978 OPS, 13.7% walk rate, and a 156 wRC+ against left-handed pitching, compared to a .273 batting average, .847 OPS, 10.7% walk rate, and a 126 wRC+ against right-handed pitching. Early in his MLB career, Christopher Sanchez has been abysmal against right-handed batters – posting a 5.32 FIP, 17.5% strikeout percentage, 11.3% walk rate, and a 1.47 WHIP. Bryant should be able to put together quality at bats in this matchup, which will give him a great chance at collecting multiple total bases on Saturday.
