NBA Player Props, January 2, 2023

Jordan Poole o28.5 points (-115)

Following a brief stretch of inefficiency, Jordan Poole exploded for 41 points on 60.9% shooting in his most recent game against the Portland Trail Blazers. Poole enters play tonight with four consecutive games of 20-plus shot attempts, and has attempted 10-plus three-pointers in four of his last five contests. Tonight, Poole has a favorable matchup against the Atlanta Hawks, which rank 13th in defensive efficiency, allowing 115.5 points per 100 possessions, since John Collins returned to the floor on December 19. Per Court IQ, Poole is averaging 30.2 points per 36 minutes this season when Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins are off of the floor – expect Poole to have another strong performance in this spot.

Nikola Jokic o46.5 points + rebounds + assists (-115)

We cashed on Nikola Jokic last night and are back again for more! Per EdgHouse, Jokic has eclipsed this market number in 8-of-12 games played since December 8. In that time period, he also has two near-misses, amassing 44 points-rebounds-assists against the Los Angeles Lakers and 43 points-rebounds-assists against the Miami Heat. On Monday, Jokic gets a favorable matchup against the Minnesota Timerwolves, a team that ranked 16th in opponent three-point percentage, 27th in opponent free-throw attempts per game, and 24th in opponent rebounds per game during December. Take the over again on the Joker.

LaMelo Ball o24.5 points (-115)

On New Year’s Eve, we attacked this same prop, but ended up on the hook in a blowout game script after delivering a poor 7-for-19 shooting performance against the Brooklyn Nets. On a night in which Ball shoots closer to his career averages from the floor, the prop would have cashed, which is why we are back on this train again tonight! Per EdgHouse, Ball has The continued absence of “(player-popup #kelly-oubre)Kelly Oubre Jr is likely to lead to another high-volume game for Ball. Per Court IQ, Ball is averaging 27.9 points per 36 minutes when Oubre Jr. is off of the floor this season, and his +4.0% increase in usage when Oubre Jr. is on the sidelines is the most significant of any player on the Charlotte Hornets. Facing a Los Angeles Lakers team that ranks 30th in defensive efficiency and 11th in pace since Anthony Davis last played, Ball should have a great opportunity to deliver a winner here.
