NBA Player Props -Suns vs. Nuggets, May 1, 2023
- Jamal Murray o24.5 points
- Kentavious Caldwell-Pope o9.5 points
- Michael Porter more than 16.5 points
Jamal Murray o24.5 points (-110), BetMGM
In the Western Conference quarterfinals, Jamal Murray averaged 27.2 points per game on 20.8 shot attempts. He scored at least 24 points in each of the three games that the Denver Nuggets hosted against the Minnesota Timberwolves, including two games with at least 35 points. In Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals, Murray scored 34 points on 24 shot attempts, once again at home. During the regular season, he was much more efficient playing at home, with better shooting percentages from the floor and from beyond the arc in his home arena compared to the road. On Monday night, Murray will get to play in front of the home fans again. Take the over here.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope o9.5 points (-115), BetMGM
It is a well-known fact that role players perform better at home than they do on the road, on average. During the regular season, Caldwell-Pope averaged 11.1 points per game on 47.4% shooting from the floor at home, compared to 10.5 points per game on 45.0% shooting from the floor on the road. During the postseason, he has eclipsed this market number in three of the four games he has played at home. Take the over in this spot as the Nuggets go for a 2-0 series lead.
NBA DFS Pick’em
Michael Porter more than 16.5 points, PrizePicks
In Game 1 of this series against the Phoenix Suns, Michael Porter had 11 points on only nine shot attempts – a rare low-volume day for him at the office. In the opening round of the playoffs, Porter scored 15 points or more in four of the five contests in which he played. He attempted 17 shots twice in that series. The Suns are likely to do a better job in Game 2 trying to slow down Aaron Gordon and Nikola Jokic, which could lead to more opportunities for Porter. The talented forward has proven himself capable of big games when given enough volume – this is a worthwhile risk on Monday night in the altitude at Ball Arena.
