NBA Player Props, February 16, 2023
- Deandre Ayton o20.5 points
- Terance Mann o3.5 rebounds
- Daniel Gafford o9.5 points
Deandre Ayton o20.5 points (-125), DraftKings
In three games since Mikal Bridges was traded to the Brooklyn Nets, Deandre Ayton has scored 23 points, 22 points, and 29 points on 15.3 field goal attempts per contest. According to CourtIQ, Ayton is averaging 26.5 points per 36 minutes of action this season with Bridges, Cameron Payne, and Landry Shamet off of the floor. Tonight, Ayton gets a matchup at home facing the Los Angeles Clippers, which rank 13th in opponent field goal attempts per game in the restricted area and 11th in opponent field goal attempts per game in the paint across the last 30 days of action. In recent weeks, the Clippers have allowed 23 points to Nikola Vucevic, 28 points to Julius Randle, and 22 points to Brook Lopez. Expect Ayton to be competitive at this number on Thursday. On a small slate, he’s a worthwhile risk for bettors.
Terance Mann o3.5 rebounds (-120), PointsBet
Dating back to last season, Terance Mann has eclipsed this market number in 57 of 79 games played with Norman Powell off of the floor, per props.cash. According to CourtIQ, Mann is averaging 4.0 rebounds per 25 minutes of action with Powell off of the court this year. During the month of February, Mann is averaging 28.0 minutes per contest, and has played as many as 35 minutes in a game – meaning that he should have a solid workload to be competitive at this number this evening. The math makes sense here, take the over and live with the result.
Daniel Gafford o9.5 points (-110), FanDuel
On the season, Daniel Gafford is averaging 4.6 field goal attempts per game, 3.1 of which are coming in the restricted area. Across the last 30 days, the Minnesota Timberwolves rank 29th in opponent field goal attempts per game and 23rd in opponent field goal percentage in the restricted area. Gafford found himself in foul trouble on Tuesday against the Portland Trail Blazers, which limited him to 15 minutes of playing time. However, he had played at least 24 minutes in each of his previous eight contests, during which he never scored fewer than nine points. In a favorable matchup, Gafford is worth a small stab here, with the primary risk factor being his inability to defend without fouling on a consistent basis.
