Primetime Parlay: Chargers vs. Jaguars Same Game Parlay Picks
ScoresAndOdds’ ParlayIQ tool simulates NFL contests thousands of times using RotoGrinders’ NFL Statistical Projections. Along with the simulations, we will examine stats, roster news, trends, player props, and betting odds across sports betting sites to find the best price for our same-game parlay ticket. For this article, we build a Wild Card Weekend same-game parlay for the Chargers vs Jaguars.
Trevor Lawrence leads the Jaguars at home in his first playoff matchup against the fifth-seed Los Angeles Chargers. With plenty of turmoil swirling around the Chargers’ coaching staff making questionable decisions in Week 18, the Jaguars remain underdogs at home as a higher seed. With the winner likely headed to Kansas City, this game should be a very exciting duel between two up-and-coming quarterbacks. For us, we add to playoff excitement with a same-game parlay ticket. Let’s cover the game first and then pick some props.
Same Game Parlay for Chargers vs. Jaguars
At the time of this writing, FanDuel Sportsbook favors the Chargers by 2.5 points. While both betting handle and tickets are split 50/50 per SAO, the line that opened at -1.5 moved a full point. With the loss of Mike Williams, this is pretty curious.
The implied game total is 47.5 points with 80% of money bet on the game sitting on the over. Sharp money expects points. This makes plenty of sense given the potential of these offenses and the relatively ineffective defenses. We might go up and down the field in this game.
For a complete preview of the game, read Nick Galaida’s look at betting odds and picks for the contest. For me, let’s focus on injuries.
The injury news starts and mostly ends with Mike Williams. After getting hurt in a completely meaningless Week 18 contest, Williams was questionable with a back contusion. As of Friday, Williams is out and will not suit up for the Chargers offense. The loss of Williams is a huge blow to the offense as Joshua Palmer will likely need to pick up the slack.
Rashawn Slater is designated to return but won’t be ready until potentially the next round if the Chargers can move on. Further, Joey Bosa will play despite being hurt in the meaningless Week 18 contest. Bosa aggravated his groin but is just experiencing soreness and should be good to go. Without Bosa this season, the Chargers struggled to rush the passer.
For the Jaguars, kicker Riley Patterson is off the injury report and ready for the matchup. Jamal Agnew is questionable as is Trevor Lawrence but… come on. He is going to play. Enough already, Doug!
With that said, let’s get some player prop picks in for our one-game parlay ticket.
Same Game Parlay Picks – Chargers & Jaguars Props
Trevor Lawrence Under 245.5 Passing Yards
ParlayIQ projects Lawrence to stay below this number and I am buying. The Chargers possess one of the weakest rushing defenses in the league. Run the ball, Jacksonville.
If Travis Etienne sees a healthy helping of carries, Lawrence will not need to pitch the ball around the yard. Instead, he will continue to make athletic plays and move the chains when the Jaguars need to convert. That said, Jacksonville will look to keep the ball on the ground against this putrid rushing defense.
I agree with ParlayIQ and our thousands of simulations. We open with this under.
Austin Ekeler Over 50.5 Rushing Yards
Next on our ticket is the over on Ekeler’s rushing yards. The dynamic running back should see a slight spike in usage in a playoff contest that won’t feature Mike Williams. With Williams’ looks being distributed, expect Ekeler to see a few more carries.
With that said, the Jaguars’ rush defense has been spectacular this season. For this pick, I am putting my faith in ParlayIQ and a relatively low number. The Blitz projection system is also in favor of Ekeler clearing this hurdle. I am happy to include this and get ahead of the sticks with value.
JaMycal Hasty Over 7.5 Receiving Yards
JaMycal Hasty exceeds this number when he gets a catch. Am I flipping a coin? Yeah, a little bit.
If I anticipate plenty of running, Hasty could see more snaps in relief of Etienne. I don’t think a pass call with Hasty on the field is out of the question and if the speedy back can see a couple of targets, I think he exceeds this total easily. ParlayIQ is on this leg as well but to a slightly lesser extent than the previous two picks.
Travis Etienne Anytime Touchdown Scorer
Finally, this final leg is a feel prop more than a simulations props. ParlayIQ doesn’t hate the touchdown, but I was throwing this on the ticket regardless of the simulated outcomes. Etienne needs to get the football a lot in this game. With a playoff matchup, we aren’t saving him for anything. The path of least resistance is on the ground. I expect Etienne to see many chances.
If the Jaguars find the red zone, expect Etienne to see some attempts. He has shown enough playmaking ability to break long runs as well. Adding the touchdown will boost our odds on FanDuel. Let’s roll the dice.
