DFS Tournament Report: August 1st
Another day of DFS and two of the bigger names in the industry were at the top of the standings of the two big live qualifiers on FanDuel and DraftKings by the time play concluded. McJester, the reigning RotoGrinders Tournament Player of the Year and currently ranked #12 in 2015, was one of the winners with the other being SamENole, the current #20 ranked player in the TPOY race. Let’s look at how those two did it along with a quick glance at the rest of the big winners:
DraftKings $4 Million FBWC Qualifier ($1,000 entry)
With a hefty $1,000 buy-in and only 57 entrants it was sure to be a competitive tournament with the best of the best fighting it out for the right to play in Las Vegas later this month. Someone very familiar with Las Vegas, professional poker player Brandon Adams (who is also #30 in RG’s TPOY race), held the top three spots in the standings an hour into play with each team having Kevin Gausman, Kyle Schwarber, Carlos Correa, and Manny Machado on them. Another professional poker player turned DFS grinder, SamENole, held the fourth spot with a White Sox stack paired with Dallas Keuchel and Joe Ross.
Assani, the #11 overall ranked player in RG’s rankings, would move into the lead with a Cubs mini-stack, Odubel Herrera, and Gerrit Cole with the en fuego Rotomania one spot behind him thanks to a strong performance from Carlos Correa. SamENole and BrandonAdams would reassume their places at the top and would not relinquish their spots the rest of the evening. It would be Buster Posey who would be the difference maker as his late home run and 26 fpt performance would be just enough to give SamENole the win and the $55,500 package to the $4 Million FBWC!
Final Results:
1. SamENole 150.75, $55,500 package to $4 Million FBWC
2. BrandonAdams 147.65, $1,500

FanDuel $4 Million WFBC Qualifier ($500 Entry)
Early on it was a battle between two players that are no strangers to RotoGrinders. Sitting in first several hours into the night was former RG employee, now working for DK, haskele with a Phillies stack, Kyle Schwarber, and Jacob deGrom. Right behind him looking to improve on his second place finish from the previous night was braskey, aka Cal Spears. Braskey went with a diverse lineup that included two Cubs (Schwarber and Rizzo), two Orioles (Machado and Jones), Carlos Correa, and Nelson Cruz. Lurking close behind was the always dangerous McJester who had several teams sitting in the top 10.
It would be one of those McJester teams, with Kyle Hendricks, Buster Posey, Carlos Correa, and Prince Fielder leading the way that would move into the top spot and once again mbomb44 (#27 in RG’s TPOY race) had a team in contention with a Phillies stack and Dallas Keuchel. Braskey would end up finishing in fourth, with mbomb44 ending up in second. McJester would finish in third with one of his lineups and the aforementioned Hendricks-led lineup would cruise to victory with a score that was 6.75 points better than mbomb44’s second place team.
Final Results
1. McJester 65.5, $48,444 package to $4 Million WFBC
2. mbomb44 58.75, $6,000
3. McJester 58.5, $3,000
4. braskey 56, $2,000
5. McJester 55.91, $1,500
6. haskele 52.25, $1,500
7. Alarm 49.91, $1,500
