DFS Tournament Report: August 5th/6th
It was a slow couple nights across the industry as there was only one live qualifier on Wednesday, August the 5th and another one on Thursday, August the 6th. A player that had been on the leader board in these qualifiers many times, LSPhila, finally broke through and won a seat and Alarm dominated the qualifier last night. Here’s a quick look at those two qualifiers and the other big winners from the past two evenings.
DraftKings $4 Million FBWC Qualifier (August 5th $1,000 entry)
It was all about the pitchers in the DraftKings $4 Million FBWC $1,000 entry fee qualifier as all the top teams had Madison Bumgarner and Matt Harvey on their rosters and those two put up excellent numbers as they both topped 30 fpts. Theboss924 moved into the early lead on the strength of a Yasiel Puig homer and Bumgarner but that lead would be short lived as Assani (#99 in RG’s TPOY race) with the aforementioned pitching duo, a Dodgers stack, and Kyle Schwarber would take control.
It was then a battle of big names as the likes of maxdalury (#1 in RG’s TPOY race) and CSURam88 (#27 in RG’s TPOY race) had several teams in contention. Ultimately though it would be someone who didn’t have the popular Dodgers stack that would take the lead late in the night with a Diamondbacks stack that had big nights from Welington Castillo and Paul Goldschmidt. That would be the difference as LSPhila moved into the lead late and never looked back to take down the seat.
Final Results:
1. LSphila 161.85, $55,500 package to $4 Million FBWC
2. maxdalury 152.85, $1,500
FanDuel $4 Million WFBC Qualifier ($1,065 Entry)
The early lead went to teams (billsfan7, zzzimsleeping, and lovesbases) with Toronto stacks benefiting from strong starts from Edwin Encarnacion and Josh Donaldson. It would be the balanced team of Alarm that would move into the lead about two hours into play and it would be a lead he would never relinquish. Alarm had an impressive 6 position players out of 9 possible that scored 5 or more fpts including 9.5 from Kyle Schwarber and Christian Yelich and 8.5 from Derek Dietrich. No team ever came within striking distance as Alarm would win by nearly 10 points in one of the easiest wins in recent qualifier history.
Final Results
1. Alarm 59, $48,444 package to $4 Million WBFC*
2. zzzimsleeping 49.75, $8,000
3. edd123 48, $3,500
3. biggameaims 48, $3,500
5. brnsnd 47.5, $3,500
