DFS Tournament Report: NBA Live Finals Qualifiers
Oh how we’ve missed thee big DFS tournaments… after a brief break, the DFS Tournament Report is back and today we’re going to recap some of the big NBA live final qualifiers at FanDuel and DraftKings and review who have already taken down seats for the big events that will play out later this month.
First off, let me just say that I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player more highly owned than JaMychal Green was last night. In the two FanDuel tournaments he was 96.7% owned (meaning 29/30 entrants had him, 1 person went the fade Green route) and 78.7% owned (larger field of 1,149 entrants). At DraftKings he was 96% owned in the bigger buy in tournament pretty much matching what FanDuel had (might have even been the same person who faded him) and 79.6% owned in the larger field event. That means 4 out of 5 lineups had the Memphis youngster in their lineup and those that did weren’t disappointed as he put up another solid line of 35.6 fpts on FanDuel and 39.75 fpts on DraftKings. At his price tag, definitely a number you’d take.
Now onto the action…
DraftKings 2016 FBWC Qualifier #78 ($27 entry)
Our first look at the leaderboard would see former NFL Millionaire Maker winner samenole (#58 in RG’s TPOY race) taking the early lead with a lineup including the aforementioned Green, James Harden, Anthony Davis, and a solid night from Patrick Beverley). BreakEmOff would take the lead a little later with a Jrue Holiday led lineup and he’d hold that top spot until the late games got underway when notable DFS grinder bcalicore would take top honors. However, ganondorf was sitting in 3rd place with a player still going and he looked as if he would cruise to the top spot. He would, but he’d end up finishing just short as a contrarian Knicks guard stack of Sasha Vujacic and Jose Calderon coupled with Anthony Davis and Lebron James would give supermanb8 top honors by the slimmest of margins over priestapp.

DraftKings 2016 FBWC Qualifier #79 ($1,000 entry)
TeeJayorTJ would hold the top spot for most of the night (#26 overall ranked RG Grinder) with a Kemba Walker and Jrue Holidayt led lineup but he’d be unable to hold up to the late game surge as a who’s who of DFS surged past him on the leader board. At the end of the night it was ChipotleAddict winning his third ticket with the chalk of Mario Chalmers (80% owned) and Green to go with underowned superstars who had huge nights like Anthony Davis (67.25 fpts at 8.0% ownership) and Russell Westbrook (a staggering 75.75 fpts at 10.0% ownership) to top the likes of ganondorf, EmpireMaker2, Makisupa, and the reigning TPOY ehafner.

FanDuel WFFC Live Final Qualifier #60 ($1,065 entry fee)
Abe_chernin would pretty much lead from start to finish as he was in the top three from the first look at the leader board and held the top spot from the time the late games started until they ended. His lineup consisted of big nights from Harden and Brow plus a solid 47.9 fpts from Andre Drummond to go along with solid mid-range options Green, Devin Booker, and Robert Covington. This is abe_chernin’s second seat into the final and he edged out RotoMania who was trying to get his first FanDuel seat (he has three for DraftKing’s final).

FanDuel WFFC Live Final Qualifier #61 ($25 entry fee)
chitown_frenze was the early clubhouse leader but his initial Holiday-Walker-Harden-Drummond based lineup would not even end up being his best lineup of the night (he’d have another lineup that would end up finishing in 4th place). It was the mythical greenhornet who would take the lead early after the late games started and he’d cruise to a nearly 6 point victory with about as good a lineup as you could put together. He had both Kemba Walker and Jrue Holiday (105+ fpts from those two), Davis, and a big night from Dwight Howard (48.1 fpts) on his way to his first live final seat.

As you might expect, it’s a who who of DFS with those who have won multiple tickets. Top ranked Grinder saahilsud leads the group that has three seats. He’s joined by RG contributor Assani, kingofqueens, and ganondorf as those who have three. Chipotleaddict leads the group that have two seats and there are plenty of big names that will be looking to take down the big live final in a couple weeks including reigning TPOY ehafner, the previous years TPOY McJester, and a slew of others. Again more big names, and it’s not surprising to see SaahilSud again topping the list with three tickets. He’s joined at that number by an impressive group of DFS superstars including Assani, Kobe4MVP, youdacao, ChipotleAddict, thekingofqueens, McLuvin, Blake Bohn (aka bkbohn21), and Rotomania. The group sitting with two seats isn’t too shabby – Makisupa, papagates, Dinkpiece, petteytheft89, and reigning champion GOULET headline those players. Among those with one seat are RG contributor cjkalt and the legends known as CSURAM88 and aejones (who apparently isn’t happy with just winning five million dollars).
