DFS Tournament Report: September 1st
BigPenguin is a man who can often be found sitting at the top of the big MLB DFS GPPs and Tuesday night he would do that once again ending the night with two huge scores on DraftKings that totaled $140,000. Find out who beat him out in one tournament and who took down the big money on FanDuel along with a quick review of five-figure winners for the night:
DraftKings $300K Mega Perfect Game ($300 entry)
The early going saw srolle and a Tampa stack coupled with big games from Yoenis Cespedes and Michael Brantley moving to the top of the leader board. With just a so-so outing from his main SP, Chris Sale, however that lineup would end up finishing the night in seventh place.
The flavor of the night in GPP-land was a Phillies stack as they exploded for 14 runs against the Mets. This would be how BigPenguin would take top honors as he had 6 Phillies, including the monster game from Darin Ruf, as well as Cespedes from the Mets. Add in a little Kyle Schwarber and it didn’t matter that Sale didn’t have his best game as BigPenguin was able to just edge out jmwhsc (who had an almost identical lineup – just two players differed) for the $100,000 payday.
Final Results:
1. BigPenguin 189.6, $100,000
2. jmwhsc 188.15, $40,000
3. JumpaHoo 162.6, $15,000
3. hockey8812 162.6, $15,000

DraftKings $400K Mega Payoff Pitch ($27 entry)
BigPenguin would also put himself in contention for another big payday in the $400K Mega Payoff Pitch but would have to settle for second place and $40,000. Okwhynot would use another Phillies stack but had Nolan Arenado at third base. The Rockies slugger would pay off huge for him as that was just enough of a difference maker to give him the top score over BigPenguin and a cool $100,000 for his win.
Final Results:
1. okwhynot 190.6, $100,000
2. BigPenguin 189.6, $40,000
3. luceca8 188.15, $20,000
4. oldgregg415 185.6, $12,000

FanDuel $500K Super Slugger ($1,065 Entry)
Play got underway with prolificd pulling into the lead with a team led by Drew Smyly, Dee Gordon, and Michael Brantley. However, it would be a Phillies four-man stack that would lead to a runaway victory for eventual winner beastofburden. The big difference maker for beastofburden was the low-owned (1.4%) Brandon Moss who ended the night with a bang when he hit a three-run walk off homer for his team. A strong outing from Zack Greinke made sure no one would catch him as he ended up winning the tournament by over 8 points.
Final Results
1. beastofburden 62.08, $100,000
2. bigubes 53.91, $60,000
3. crankenwho 52.33, $40,000
4. teamamerica79 51.66, $25,000
5. prolificd 51.25, $20,000
6. ryazan2000 51, $15,000
7. justinmacmahan 49.58, $10,000
8. bagoose 49.5, $10,000
