MLB $1M Sweet Spot Review: Tuesday, April 12th
The Grinder review series will provide the reader with a breakdown of the exposures of “top of the leaderboard” players, the top single-entry lineup, and a comparison between all single entry lineups and professionals for large slate and massive prize pool GPPs.
Today we looked at the $1M Sweet Spot [$150,000 to 1st] on DraftKings with a buy-in of $20.
Multi-Entry Grinders of the Game
With 171 entries, Al_Smizzle landed three lineups inside the top 53 by leaning on a stack of Baltimore Orioles and value pitching. His 10th place finish featured Baltimore’s 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7 hole hitters, two SF hitters separate in the order, and the second highest owned non-pitcher in Bryce Harper.

ChipotleAddict went harder with 400 entries and had supreme confidence in the a tight core of Noah Syndergaard (100%), Josh Phegley (71%), David Ortiz (99%), and Mookie Betts (100%). While Phegley did not work out and limited his overall deep-run potential, the rest of his highly-owned core playing well allowed him to cash at a 85% rate.

ehafner maxed out the 500 entry limit en-route to two top-5 finishes on the backs of spread-out team stacking. While he favored Noah Syndergaard and Gio Gonzalez for pitching, he didn’t breach 25% exposure on any one hitter. His main team stack was on San Francisco, followed by San Diego, Philadelphia, Colorado, Baltimore, and Washington. His 2nd place finish featured a split team stack of SF/BAL with the 2, 3, 4 hole hitters from each team and minimally owned J.J. Hardy who was the difference-maker.

Single-Entry Winner of the Game
Lscbnc landed a third-place finish on his only entry without team stacking. He picked from a wide array of optimal matchups and aligned the stars to take down $40,000 even with a 0-for (Cory Spangenberg) and 1.32x pitcher performance (Jose Fernandez $11.9k, 15.65 DK points).

Single-Entry vs. Al_Smizzle/ChipotleAddict/ehafner
Out of 53,622 entries in the $1M Sweet Spot, 13,485 of those entries (25.1%) were entered courtesy of players using a single bullet. The table below compares the exposures of those single entries to the exposures of Al_Smizzle, ChipotleAddict, ehafner, and 25 other top professionals picked off of RotoGrinders’ leaderboard:
