Pitcher Grind Down
- Jerome Williams – Williams is an average right hand pitcher with a below average matchup against the Rangers. The Angels have nothing to play for at this point and the Rangers season is on the line. Their offense is locked in right now and I don’t see Williams pitching well tonight. Rating = 2
- Matt Garza – Garza is the biggest favorite of the day and he is my top pitching play of the day. The Rangers are in a must win situation which means all of their players are going to be extremely focused and extremely locked in. I like taking pitchers in games that actually matter. I think Garza steps up big for the Rangers and pitches a great game. Rating = 8
Batter Grind Down
LAA – You can never rule out Mike Trout in a hitter’s park, but I think Garza will pitch well and limit the damage to one or two earned runs. The bats to target in this game are on the other team.
TEX – The Rangers have been my favorite offense each of the last few days and they have really stepped up and produced. They should be in for another big night tonight against Williams. Adrian Beltre is 10/24 against Williams and looks like an easy choice at 3B. The rest of the Rangers are also in play.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jeremy Guthrie – Guthrie has given up an average of 9 hits per game in his last 5 starts which is not a number that I like to see from my pitcher. Guthrie’s biggest struggles come against left hand hitters and the White Sox actually have quite a few lefties to throw at him. Rating = 3
- Andre Rienzo – Rienzo is a very inconsistent young pitcher that has really struggled at home. He has an ERA over 8 this season at home. To me, this game is all about the offenses, I don’t see any value in either of these pitchers. Rating = 3
Batter Grind Down
KC – Rienzo is giving up a .286 batting average to right handed hitters this season, but I think the lefties of the Royals are in play as well. Billy Butler is dirt cheap across the sites and could be a nice play that not many other people have.
CWS – Guthrie is giving up a .333 batting average to lefties this season. I love the spot for Alejandro De Aza, Conor Gillespie, and Adam Dunn. All three are really cheap and have a very favorable matchup.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Zach McAllister – McAllister is another pitcher that is pitching in a very meaningful game. On sites that allow 3 pitchers, I may take all three from the teams in the AL Wild Card race because they have more at stake than any other teams. McAllister has pitched well on the road and faces a Twins team that is coming off of a really tough series against the Tigers. Rating = 7
- Andrew Albers – Albers has pitched well at home this season, but doesn’t have a very good chance at getting the win against these Indians. The Indians have been rolling lately and I am not about to take a pitcher against them. Rating = 3
Batter Grind Down
CLE – Indians that hit lefties well include Nick Swisher, Carlos Santana, Asdrubal Cabrera, and Ryan Raburn. All of them have the lefty/righty splits in their favor. I think the Indians are a good stack tonight because they will be under the radar.
MIN – This Twins lineup is full of minor league players. They are mixing it up each night and I just don’t see any value here other than taking McAllister against them.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Edinson Volquez – Volquez has been terrible all season long. He hasn’t pitched well on the road or at home. He hasn’t pitched well during the day or at night. Basically, he has not pitched well. High risk with low reward tonight against the Giants. Rating = 2
- Tim Lincecum – Lincecum isn’t my favorite option tonight, but he has pitched well at home in his career and he is facing a Dodgers lineup that could be resting a few of their star players. Rating = 5
Batter Grind Down
LAD – Adrian Gonzalez, Yasiel Puig, and Carl Crawford would all make good plays if they end up being in the lineup. If they are out, maybe consider taking Lincecum.
SF – Buster Posey is 5/8 with 2 doubles off of Volquez and I also like both Hunter Pence and Pablo Sandoval. Don’t forget the lefty Brandon Belt either.
