Pitcher Grind Down
- Max Scherzer – The Tigers have their division locked up but they are still fighting for a better seed so I don’t think that will affect Scherzer’s value all that much in this one. I don’t think he will be on a pitch count or anything. He has a great matchup against this Twins lineup and he has one of the best K rates in baseball. Rating = 9
- Kevin Correia – Correia has a high ERA, a low K rate, and an extremely tough matchup against the Tigers. This is an easy one. Rating = 1
Batter Grind Down
DET – Correia is giving up a .298 batting average to both lefties and righties. One player that I really like in this one is Austin Jackson, he seems to excel against pitchers that can’t strike out many batters. I also really like the big bats of Prince Fielder and Miguel Cabrera.
MIN – This game is all about the Tigers. This Twins lineup does not do anything for me.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jake Peavy – Peavy has been very good for the Red Sox, but I’m not breaking my Cardinal Rule of never taking a pitcher in Coors Field. Rating = 3
- Jhoulys Chacin – Chacin is in the same boat. I could quote his numbers for you, but at the end of the day I’m just going to tell you not to take a pitcher in Coors Field. Rating = 2
Batter Grind Down
BOS – This one should be another high scoring game in Coors. The Red Sox offense was pretty quiet last night but you can’t expect that to happen two nights in a row. I’m not sure if David Ortiz will be in the lineup since they are playing under NL rules, but double check the lineup. I like Dustin Pedroia, Salty, and Stephen Drew.
COL – Even though this looks like a tough matchup, Peavy doesn’t scare me away from any of the Rockies bats. I like all of the lefties against him including Corey Dickerson, Charlie Blackmon, and Charlie Culberson. All are cheap and have good upside.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Ervin Santana – Santana is a bit too expensive for my taste today. He is a very good pitcher, but when his price is up there with the other aces, I usually lean towards someone else. Santana has a decent matchup against the M’s, but they do have a lot of left handed bats in their lineup. Rating = 6
- Hisashi Iwakuma – Iwakuma is an excellent pitcher that has a 0.910 WHIP at home. That is the type of WHIP that I like to see from my pitchers. The Royals are all but out of the playoff race with that loss last night and I think their bats will have a let down game against Iwakuma. Rating = 7
Batter Grind Down
KC – Not a big fan of the Royals tonight, Iwakuma just doesn’t give up many base runners at home.
SEA – Not a huge fan of the M’s bats either though. With so many other good options, I think the best route is to take a pitcher from this game and avoid both offenses.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Randall Delgado – Delgado is an interesting play tonight. The Padres have been the worst offense in baseball in September and he has the privilege of pitching in Petco. I think he makes a sneaky play even though he hasn’t pitched well on the road. Rating = 6
- Ian Kennedy – Except for a couple of starts, Kennedy has pitched well since coming over from the D-Backs. One of those teams that he struggled with happened to be his former team. This time around may be different though as this game is in Petco instead of Chase Field. I like Kennedy, but of the two I like Delgado more. Rating = 5
Batter Grind Down
ARI/SD – Taking hitters in Petco is never one of my favorite things to do. There just isn’t that upside that you like to have with your hitters. I think this game will play out a lot like last night’s 2-1 game.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Ricky Nolasco – Nolasco has really struggled against this Giants team this season. In two starts against them he has an ERA over 10. I think he will pitch better than that tonight, but sometimes in baseball, teams hit certain pitchers well. I think Nolasco should be in line for the win though which always helps his cause. Rating = 5
- Barry Zito – Even though Zito has been decent at home this season and is basically the price of a relief pitcher, I am not touching him with a ten foot pole. He is more likely to blow up than to have a good outing and the Dodgers are a tough offense that is getting ready for the playoffs. Rating = 1
Batter Grind Down
LAD – Dodgers that hit lefties well include Yasiel Puig, Hanley Ramirez, Matt Kemp, and Adrian Gonzalez. Check the lineup and get a couple of these guys into yours.
SF – If you are looking at taking any Giants tonight, you are probably looking at Buster Posey, Hunter Pence, and/or Pablo Sandoval. I’m not crazy about any of the three, but they aren’t terrible plays either.
