MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, July 12

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

CheeseIsGood: Aaron Judge
SquirrelPatrol: Aaron Judge
boggslite: Elly De La Cruz
ebeimfohr: Aaron Judge
Alex Sonty: Aaron Judge

How do you plan to beat the field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

CheeseIsGood: This slate is absolutely loaded on both sides. It’s tough to imagine winning with cheap pitching, but it is quite possible to imagine winning with guys in the $8,000 range on DK and the $9,000 range on FD. I will still have plenty of Garrett Crochet, Joe Ryan, and Freddy Peralta, but I won’t go below the $7,000 mark on DK, even if that means I can’t get up to those aces. I expect Cole Ragans to pick up steam as the day moves on, but he still may come in below Sean Manaea, which is silly. I think offense gets spread out enough that nothing is a concerning level of chalk, with the possible and strange exception of the Marlins. They are very cheap and allow you to spend up on all the elite plays elsewhere. As much as I like that, I don’t want to be overweight on the one thing on a slate that ends up as chalk when that one thing is a 32-61 team that ranks 29th in the league in scoring.

SquirrelPatrol: This is a big slate with lots to choose from, but I’ll prioritize spending up for the bats while I take some risks at pitcher. I’ll take what mother nature brings us, with the Yankees and Baltimore seeing a 13.7% WeatherEdge boost to HRs, and I’ll lean heavily on teams like the Marlins that are on the road getting a ballpark upgrade for their hitters.

boggslite: With plenty of solid hitting matchups to target tonight, with few clear standouts among them, I plan to spread out my exposure to bats and have a narrow pitching field. On DK, both Cole Ragans and Sean Manaea have great matchups at very reasonable prices, while guys like Garrett Crochet, Joe Ryan, and Freddy Peralta become interesting pay-up-to-be-contrarian options. I will look to get different with my bats as I do not love the upside from any of the pitchers not mentioned above.

ebeimfohr: I’ll focus on the mid-tier pitcher options with the likes of Cole Ragans, Sean Manaea, and others to be able to afford the more expensive bats while veering away from the spend-up options like Garrett Crochet and Sonny Gray. That in and of itself won’t be something that sets us apart, but it does allow us to pivot off the chalkier more expensive bats alongside those pitchers to attack one of the many vulnerable pitchers on tonight’s loaded slate.

Alex Sonty: There’s so much pitching on this slate it makes me likely just to take a strong stand on Cole Ragans and Sean Manaea. Maybe even locking them into all 20 of my DK lineups. On FD, though, I’ll cycle in the low pOWN% of Garrett Crochet with those two. I’m also far more attracted to the Mets, Brewers, and Braves than the rest of the field.

Who is your top overall pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
