MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, June 28
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
CheeseIsGood: Rafael Devers
squirrelpatrol: Aaron Judge
boggslite: Rafael Devers
ebeimfohr: Aaron Judge
Alex Sonty: Bobby Witt
How do you plan to beat the field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
CheeseIsGood: Pitching is horrendous, and amazingly, the bats aren’t all that great either. With the lack of upside at pitcher, I’m only playing Logan Gilbert and Bailey Ober if spending over $8,500. After that, I’m just going to throw random cheap darts and hope to get positive points out of it. I think Slade Cecconi will be weirdly popular, so I may end up shifting to more Frankie Montas and even Dakota Hudson if projected ownership gets too high for Cecconi. With the bats, I will be heavily focused on the Royals and Red Sox and then looking to the DET/LAA game to hopefully remain slightly under the radar.
squirrelpatrol: There just isn’t much differentiation despite having 13 games. Even with 26 starting pitchers, not one is favored for over 6.5 strikeouts and only 3 are favored for over 5.5 strikeouts. I’ll focus on spending up for the top offenses, like KC, and won’t hesitate to use a cheap, uncomfortable pitcher if I have to.
boggslite: My focus will be on getting both Bailey Ober and Logan Gilbert in as many lineups as I can. They both have proven upside and will be pitching in a ballpark that favors strikeouts in ideal pitching conditions. If projected ownership comes in lower than expected for Drew Thorpe or Slade Cecconi, then I will use them if I need salary relief. However, I think a lot more wrong can happen than right for those guys, and I would rather sacrifice an expensive bat or target a cheaper stack in order to jam in Ober and Gilbert.
ebeimfohr: For a huge Friday night slate, I’m not sure I can remember this weak of an overall pitching pool. When the pool is weak and the options projecting for the highest ownership are not quite as strong as most slates, this is when I like to not only get a bit off the board with pitching but also save as much money as I can. Then I can create a totally different build than the field while also affording the superstar bats, like Aaron Judge and so on.
Alex Sonty: There’s so much bad pitching that a few guys are likely gonna go over-owned (e.g., Slade Cecconi, Dakota Hudson, Bailey Ober, Charlie Morton), and I just wanna stack against all of them given the lack of exceptional stacks on the slate. Except Logan Gilbert. I’m not stacking against Logan Gilbert. I’m even considering a Mariners mini stack for single-entry tournaments; this slate is so spread out at all positions.
